HD650's bass is not hyped.
I don't think Lunatique is simply saying that monitors are better than headphones. The impression I got is that he was saying, coming from the headphone world, which always has had trouble with accurate bass reproduction, many people will consider bass to be "bloated" that is actually much...- backwardsname

I use my D2000s on my way to/from work a lot of the time. They sound pretty good straight out of an iPhone and they've been rained on a little bit with no ill effect. Never been in a downpour with them or anything -- I'd definitely try to cover them in that kind of situation.- backwardsname

which is better head room ultra micro dac+ultra micro amp or head room desktop amp/dac??
The ultra micro amp and ultra micro dac will sound better than the standard desktop amp. The electronics are higher-end -- the only thing you lose is the single package and some connector options, but for most people the Ultra Micros should be just fine.- backwardsname

After some consideration, I think the K701 is what I'm looking for. The only thing I can foresee being a problem is the anemic bass, but I'm not necessarily looking for neutrality. I'll probably buy from somewhere that offers a return policy in case I find them to be too bright, but everything...- backwardsname

So, I've read all the reviews, impressions, and comparisons I can get my hands on, both here and elsewhere, and I feel more confused than ever! I was on the phone with HeadRoom's sales dept the other day and I remember them saying that they expect to have a large B-stock selection after Thanksgiving. I've always been someone who listens to music at every possible opportunity, and before I knew better I had some Bose TriPorts because I knew I wanted good sound (I just didn't know where to find it). Help! Brutal sibilance with my HR Ultra Micro Amp
Hm. Just plugged some Grado SR 60i phones in and didn't hear any less sibilance, so I think I can rule out the headphones as the source of this problem. Additionally, after about two hours of music so far today (skipping songs that have been too sibilant), it doesn't sound quite as bad, and...- backwardsname

Help! Brutal sibilance with my HR Ultra Micro Amp
As a preface, I'm not sure if this an amp/dac issue, or a headphone issue, so any opinions on that would be welcome, as well as any solutions to my problem.
