Musical Fidelity V-DAC Mk. II & V-Link Mk. II

Cheers!   I'm starting to like MF's direction with the V series quite a bit.   Affordable, seems to work like a charm for those who have it, and now the case work is finally something very appealing.

Musical Fidelity V-DAC Mk. II & V-Link Mk. II

Hah! V-Link Mk. II spotted... http://www.musicdirect.com/p-53341-musical-fidelity-v-link-mk-ii-usb-to-coax-converter.aspx   Updated thread title to cover both the V-DAC and V-Link updates.

Musical Fidelity V-DAC Mk. II & V-Link Mk. II

Would definitely be interested in feedback on this unit too (: I'm currently looking for a mini setup I can use at work... though it'll be headphone based so I'll likely wait for a V-CAN II as I'm quite a nut when it comes to matching my gear :P   Am using a DAC3.5vb+VBS on my main...

Amp for HD-800 - RSA Apache or Woo WA5-LE?

Did read up on the Apex Pinnacle a little bit, my gosh @ the price however.   I'm already a bit skeptical buying something nearing four grand without having listened to it before... ten? I'd need to have one serious audition.   My headphone setups have generally been less serious than my...

Musical Fidelity V-DAC Mk. II & V-Link Mk. II

The new V-DAC also seems to rely on a wall wart power supply so power shouldn't be much of a concern really. Most of them are compatible with voltages between 100 and 240... and even if they aren't finding a replacement unit is usually not too complex.

Musical Fidelity V-DAC Mk. II & V-Link Mk. II

I think the V-Link will still have its uses if you're really adamant on having your audio system as disconnected from your PC as possible.   I've always liked the idea of having a piece of optic fiber between my PC and audio system as it helps with isolation (:

Musical Fidelity V-DAC Mk. II & V-Link Mk. II

Oh dear, just stumbled into this;   http://www.audioaffair.co.uk/Musical-Fidelity-VDAC-II-DAC/product_5381   Used to be a pretty die-hard Musical Fidelity fan until I found that their constant product updates had become quite a joke.   Had been thinking of getting a V-DAC and V-Link...

Amp for HD-800 - RSA Apache or Woo WA5-LE?

Thank you everyone for your recommendations and comments thus far (:   I'm actually living in Asia and yeah it's a real nightmare for me to find anyone locally where I live carrying any headphone amplifier which I am considering with my budget and hence why I'm posting here to see what...

Amp for HD-800 - RSA Apache or Woo WA5-LE?

Ah. Believe the X-CAN V8P's were tube based so I don't think I have ever tried the HD-800's with an amp which is purely solid state. Why do you say they need tubes though? Too sharp? Too clinical? Had looked at the B-52's as well and that will be right at the limits of my budget (: I'll read a...

Amp for HD-800 - RSA Apache or Woo WA5-LE?

Hail all,   Am looking to move up a little bit with my headphone set up (mainly utilizing my Sennheiser HD-800) and need a few opinions.   My budget at this point of time is anything under five grand.   My direct previous (and now sold) headphone amplifier was the Musical Fidelity...

V8p hisses with stock walwart and tubes. should it be just like dat?

Haven't noticed any hissing even when the volume is set to maximum (V8P + PSU + HD800)... not that I listen at that volume (; but I'm always curious to see how much hissing I get out of speakers or headphones when the volume control on the amplifier is set to maximum.

Just saw a few photos of The Raptor and my my does it look amazing in the build quality department. Even internal components are cleanly laid out and cables where required are kept to an absolute minimum length... Price of The Raptor is not bad either... in fact it's a little less than my MF...

*nods* I do have quite a few CD's to listen to before I get bored and start experimenting! For the time being I'll enjoy my HD 800's, am already starting to look at options and opinions however as it can take me quite a fair bit of time reading, auditioning, changing my mind for the 51st...
