    Earbuds Round-Up

That's not a bad idea. They are the OG PK2 so I guess they have some nostalgic value, but I just assumed all the drivers today are better. However, I didn't think about just the shells and eventually DIYing. That's a great idea, because I'm a hoarder and have tons of electronic components. I...

    Earbuds Round-Up

Just got my VE V2S (Venture Electronics Version 2.0 S). I was hoping the connector would be smaller but it's HUGE. It's so much thicker than my laptop that I have to use a USB-C dongle. The other connector pictured is from my NiceHCK DIY MX500. 11mm vs 5.5mm. Even the stress relief is only 7.5mm...

The Unique Melody Mason FuSang is now available at MusicTeck!

I can't find any information about those tips. UniqueMelody.org only lists the black dome silicone ones, not the transparent cylindrical ones shown here. Which are supposed to be more comfortable? I would assume the cylindrical ones fit deeper by virtue of a narrower flange diameter.

Shanling UP4 & UP2 - Bluetooth 5.0 DAC/AMP with ES9218P, balanced output, supporting LDAC, HWA LHDC, aptX HD, aptX Low Latency, aptX and AAC.

Really great to see firmware updates and the controller app. Android doesn't force codecs properly so it's nice that we can force AptX HD over LDAC when we need more stability than theoretical quality. Can Shanling confirm that passthrough power as a USB DAC will not be possible? To clarify...

FiiO E7: Unboxed Production, "OH SO SHINY" (56k warning!)

I'm pretty busy this week as well. Thought I would have time for a proper review, but it looks like it's going to have to wait at least another week.   10 hour impressions? Incredible. I haven't heard the uDAC for any significant amount of time, but with the E7 I get the same initial "Wow"...

FiiO E7: Unboxed Production, "OH SO SHINY" (56k warning!)

My apologies for jumping the gun. The plastic seems comparable to BlackBerry screens and the Clip's casing. I've had both for a few months and neither have any scratches.

FiiO E7: Unboxed Production, "OH SO SHINY" (56k warning!)

Thanks for the bad news, Jack. :P   I sort of care, but then again... scratches on my plastic isn't going to kill the soundstage (I hope!). Maybe if I can get a cover under $1 shipped, I'll consider it. Not as important as on, say, an MP4 player or cell phone. Makes me wonder why FiiO didn't...

FiiO E7: Unboxed Production, "OH SO SHINY" (56k warning!)

I PM'd feiao and he recommended Micca and Head-Direct, so I'm assuming this is what production units will look like from now on.   Forgot about that bag. Feels like it's made of velvet. The button is VERY tight, so no worries about it falling out unexpectedly.

FiiO E7: Unboxed Production, "OH SO SHINY" (56k warning!)

Yup. The miniUSB cable isn't half bad either. Has ferrite beads at both ends, however unnecessary they may be. I'm using a 1920 px wide display, so if anyone thinks the pictures should be arranged in 1 column, let me know!

FiiO E7: Unboxed Production, "OH SO SHINY" (56k warning!)

Preordered an E7 from Miccastore and it came today! Shipped on Monday, so 3 days (free shipping!). Just got back from an appointment, so haven't had time to play with it yet. I'll have a review up after Memorial Day at some point in time.   I'll mostly be using it as a DAC, but might lug it...

    DIY ear buds?

Much appreciated! Exactly what I was looking for. I'll try to post pics if I get around to starting this project :P

Are the Sennheiser MX 880s for me? Or portable headphones?

Yup, I was one of the 18 PMs he received! Well, it's not that I think that attenuator would degrade audio quality, it's just that I don't want a block of plastic/metal in the middle of my cord. If I were to recable them, I would need to include an attenuator to match the electrical...

    DIY ear buds?

Yeah, I'm certain that it's a break in the wire. But I'm looking for a nice DIY project. So you don't have any helpful information about OEM ear bud drivers?

    FiiO E1 + E7 (speculation-no-more) *now guest-starring: E9

Just placed my order on miccastore. PM'd feiao and he replied "Micca and Head-direct is our sales agents in USA, please visit www.miccastore.com or www.head-direct.com!"   "ETA 5/24/2010, PRE-ORDER ONLY, LIMIT 1 PER HOUSEHOLD - EXTRA ORDERS WILL BE CANCELLED - (Price Guarantee: This is...

    DIY ear buds?

I'm looking for a resource to find some ear bud drivers. My PK3s recently died (almost positive it's a problem with the jack) and it's a solid excuse to investigate DIY ear buds.   Does anyone know where to find drivers? I'm interested in 9mm dynamics.   Also, judging from my PK3s (ok, I...

Are the Sennheiser MX 880s for me? Or portable headphones?

Quote: Firstly, ear buds are total win. Thus, you are a winner.   I had no idea that the CALs were the same as the D1001s. I did some searching, and they use the same driver from OEM Foster. http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/353941/recabling-denon-ah-d1001-d1000...

Are the Sennheiser MX 880s for me? Or portable headphones?

Does no one here listen to ear buds? I like IEMs and all, it's just that at the same price point, portable headphones and ear buds usually beat the pants off of any IEM. If the RE0s didn't sell at $80, my last review would have been of the OK2.

Are the Sennheiser MX 880s for me? Or portable headphones?

My beloved PK3s have finally broken. The right bud goes in and out, depending on the cable position. Many positions used to work, then a few very precise positions; but now, no positions work for the right. Luckily the left bud still works!   Anyway, I'm in the market for some open-air audio...

Whoa, bump for interest.   Anyone willing to mod their RE0s?

RE0's Broken... How should I fix them?

HOLY CRAP! I'd never expect my RE0s to do that! But, the strain relief on both ears has completely separated. At this point, they're just annoying sleeves on the cable.   Head-Direct has excellent customer service. Let me reiterate: EXCELLENT. However, if you purchased it through a 3rd party...

Sleeping with ES-10s (on, not with..)

Haven't had any experience with them, but from the looks of it, it's very solid headphone. If anything were to break, it'd be the headpiece. I'd read over the finer details of the warranty before putting them at risk.    Earplugs are definitely the more practical solution, although equally...

***Deal Alert*** Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10 Earphones $200

Jeez, $200?! That's quite the rip considering how much they were going for on Amazon. Then again, that batch had notoriously low quality cables (physical quality, not audio). I have no idea whether or not these are of the same build.   I know another user on the forums that's looking to sell...

    VOTE: Headphones or earphones?

??? I don't really think it's sensible to claim headphones or earphones are generally better. That's probably why no one's made a thread about it before. Each has unique purposes. Also, a good set of headphones is typically cheaper than earphones of comparable quality. At the top-end of...
