Because Sony only seem to be looking at the headphones Audeze make for the gaming market, and not their Audiophile/recording studio focussed headphones. To be fair we need to see what happens next and whatever it is that Sony are going to do with Audeze.

I personally like the look of the rosewood, and the warranty is good if there were to be a driver failure (happened on a pre 2021 classic revision i bought off ebay once), but then i havent heard the lcd-2's non classic. Either one would be a good bet though.

I reckon either of them would be great for metal, I havent heard the lcd-2 (with fazors) but have the classics and they benefit metal by having a rich midrange and decent low end. With headphones on this level though you will need to make sure that your source equipment is of a good standard...

One thing to note on Audeze headphones (and likely other brands/models as well) is that they are very sensitive to dynamic range compression where, during the music mastering stage, the audio has been compressed to sound as loud as possible at the detriment of sound quality. So a track from say...

I dont agree at all, I was listening to Animals as leaders last night on my LCD-2C's they had no problem keeping up and sounded great, you need to make sure you amplify them properly. Agreed that they are not as fast as the LCD-X, but they are in no way slow.

Thats cool, love that your Audeze's had their own dedicated amp (In your pic), I have my (other Audeze's) LCD-2 c's cabled with Claire mk2, definately better than the stock unbalanced but not as clear and dynamic as the Noir Hybrid, but of course there is a price difference.

Lol, I can second that, I have just attached 2.5m of balanced Noir Hybrid to my Audeze LCD-X's and can confirm that I have not heard Cradle of Filth sound this good before, such a rich, dynamic engaging and exciting sound, plus the pidgeons are still happily walking around in my garden today.

There has to be the obligatory HD25-1 ii comparison, particularly as mf-100's are much the same price (bit cheaper), astroid reckons the MF's are better than the Senns, but are they as portable? (the reason I'm pressing on this is that I really want to get the MF's ;-), and have to find a reason...
