Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!

Glad the Joker is enjoying the Wizards. I loved the mids SO much on those. Now enjoying an older set of Noble 5’s.

The NEW Nuforce NE800m. Titanium for your vocals, carbon fiber in your space, brass for your bass. (A review)

I bought these last Christmas for my wife. She found them too heavy for use when running. I use them as my backup set of iems. I was using NuForce HEM8's for the majority of my listening, and sometimes a set of Noble Wizards. I like the NE800M's for use on a plane. They are affordable...

IEM for hip hop, pop, and electronica

The NuForce HEM8's I had worked very well for the genre's you list. I have not heard any of the other HEM iems, but the 8's are recommended.

    Nuforce HEM Discussion & Impressions

It would be fun to hear some of the others, but bought the HEM8's and am unlikely to buy any of the others in the series unless they show up locally, and at a very attractive price.   The HEM8's are the best iems I have heard, but I have not heard a ton of them, nor any customs.

iPad iPhone bit-perfect DLNA/UPnP wi-fi streaming 24bit or DSD files / high storage capacity / portability

For iPad 2 and LMS IPeng with replay purchased Wifi streaming iFI IDSD Nano via CCK I will still be limited to 24/96 these days? Not looking to do DSD, but have files in 24/176 and 24/192 I would be interested to play on the iFi device. FLAC on server in wifi environment.

    Nuforce HEM Discussion & Impressions

NuForce HEM8 review   My system for replay at home – dedicated netbook loaded with Logitech Media Server software, external 5TB drive full of FLAC.  Wifi.  iPhone 6s.    My system for replay on the go – iTunes downloaded music.  iPhone 6s.   My exposure to headphones is fairly limited...

    Nuforce HEM Discussion & Impressions

Been a while since I was around here, but back again.   I had been using Westone UM1's for planes and trains, but saw a deal recently for a lightly used set of HEM8's.   Happy with them straight out of my iPhone6.   Wrapped up for now, as they are an Xmas present, but looking forward to...

    Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread

In the past I have owned Beyer DT770's, modded Grado SR60's, Alessandro MS-1, Shure 215 iems and Senn Momentum's (on ear).   I currently own Westone UM1's (planes and trains), and a new set of HD598SE's.   I am running a Grant Fidelity TubeDAC-11, Cayin HA-1A feeding the 598's.   I ran in...

The War between Head Fi and Hi Fi

I have dabbled with both over the years.   My headphone setup is modest - Matrix Mini i or Grant Fidelity TubeDAC-11, Cayin HA-1A, Senn HD598's.    My speaker setup cost more, but is similar - Matrix Mini i or Grant Fidelity TubeDAC-11, NuForce AVP-16 (as preamp), Crown XLS 1500 amp...

NUFORCE DDA 120?? to replace DDA 100

Heard from John Casler that the release of the DDA-120 is still a few weeks out.   I was considering a DDA-100 to power some Totem Sttaf I picked up recently.   I scored a NAD C325BEE locally to use while the reviews on the new Nuforce start to trickle in!

AV Receiver USB input = can we trick this into accepting a feed from a PC or MAC?

If the mini was a 2006 one, it would have had the combined headphone/optical output.   As for the one I have purchased, no such luck, but it was cheap.   Not a big issue, for what I want to use it for, using a break out cable will work fine for audio, but it would be nice to be able to...

AV Receiver USB input = can we trick this into accepting a feed from a PC or MAC?

I have a Pioneer VSX-819H receiver.  It has a USB input, and is iPod certified.  I guess that is a fancy way of saying that if you connect an iPod to it via USB, you get tunes, and an on screen display to control the tunes, with your Pioneer remote.  I use a Logitech remote anyway, but that is...

    USB DAC options under $100

I ended up going in a slightly different direction.   I found a Grant Fidelity DAC 09.  Has the USB input I wanted, and I will put it up against my Millett Max Hybrid to see if I can consolidate to just the GF piece, or if I will only use it as a DAC.   Thanks for the suggestions!

    SR60-Mod

Try PM'ing Bilavideo for cups, he might be able to help you out.   As for modded 60/80/125/225/325 etc, I am sure there are differences, but I am willing to step forward and suggest they are minimal.  I own a set of modded 60i's, and I heard back to back vs a modded set of 325i's at a Head...

    SR60-Mod

Quote:  Sysfail, I have quarter modded comfies, bowls, and bagel (jumbo) pads and have compared them using my modded SR60i's.   I imagine that some would think differently, but what I find is that soundstage increases and bass decreases as you go up in pad size.  That is a blanket...

    USB DAC options under $100

The Musiland 02 sold yesterday (I guess I was taking too long doing all the research, and someone else figured it was worth $80).   I have a bid in on a Fubar II, if I lose that, I will buy the Musiland 01, thanks!

    USB DAC options under $100

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate your taking the time.   I have found a FUBAR II (original, not the MK II with the improved power supply goodies) and a Musiland 02 US.   I have made an offer on the Musiland 02, right around what the Musiland 01 goes for new, so I should be good.  ...

    SR60-Mod

Agreed on the approaches to charred wood - with my variable circle cutter, there is NO speed that will not toast the wood, the head doing the cutting is just too big not to smoke.    The hole saws can be slowly pushed through the material without smoking, but it helps if the wood is not too...

    SR60-Mod

I think either of the ways you describe it can work fine Bill.  A very charitable act, good on you.   I bought the mesh for my cups off tenzip, he had posted a charitable thread of a similar nature, he was donating a portion of the proceeds as I recall.  Worked for me.

    USB DAC options under $100

I am looking for a USB DAC for use primarily with my headphone setup. I have a Millett Max Hybrid, some modded Grado SR60i's, and use Squeezecenter to stream FLAC from my dedicated music PC to my Bolder modded SB3 (in the main speaker based system), or my iTouch via iPeng (for use with my...

    SlimDevices/Logitech SqueezeBox Owners

I have nothing but respect for what I have heard about the Transporter, but by the time those came out, I was already significantly invested in the modded SB3.  Has kept me happy for a while now.   The advent of the ability to receive FLAC via my iTouch makes whole home audio easier - I can...

    SlimDevices/Logitech SqueezeBox Owners

I am using my SB3 still, getting on 5 years or so now.  I had mine fully modded by Wayne at Bolder Cables.  I use it via the analogue outputs, but have done the digital mods too, in the event I want to use an external DAC in the future.  But, for all this time I have been using it straight into...

    SR60-Mod

I think lots of folks are happy with making their own cups, and lots are happy splashing out for pre made ones.   If I total what I have spent in wood, hole saws and misc, I KNOW I have spent more than the JMoney ones.   I have also spent more than the Alumods from Jaben.   Now, I don't...
