    The Stax Thread III

Thank you for posting this mod. I love that the Stax actually has some bass now (I did it to my L300 Limited). Have you experimented with different gaps in the seal? I am hearing some slight boominess/bloatedness in the upper bass or to midbass on some tracks. It just doesn't sound as clean as...

Albuquerque, NM meet - June 29 2019 Impressions

Thanks again to everyone who made the meet happen, I had a great time and it was a cool environment with a lot of teaching and guiding thorughout. Highlights for me were finally hearing some of the ZMF headphones for the first time, the LCD-X, and of course the Stax 007A mk2, which to me was...

Glad if I can help. I have the 3.5mm and Lightning for the Sine but no lightning source to use there. I'm hoping the new lightning to USB-C adapter anker released sells in black soon

AMB Labs M3 Amp Versus Competition

Was your comparison of the M3 to the Jot including a Sigma11? Right now I still have my trusty Elpac    Thanks

    Schiit Fulla 2 Impressions Thread

Have you double-checked your wiring paths? Cables should cross perpendicularly if possible. I've heard what you describe (with other hardware), and I don't think changing your PSU would fix it.   My suggestion would be to try a different mouse, a choked (ferrite bead) USB cable for your...

    Amp/DAC options up to ~$500

Interestingly, with actual testing, I've found that the volume output of my Audeze headphones is actually closer to my hd650. I assume that is due to the unreported sensitivity rating.   At the same time, I am leaning more towards the Modi Multibit to just compliment my M3 rather than jumping...

    Amp/DAC options up to ~$500

Ok. Thread consensus seems to be the Chord Mojo. It's not the form factor I was looking for but I'm coming to believe it may fit my needs the best. I may end up seeing how it works out in my mixed up use cases, then add a Fulla 2 / Modi Multibit to my M3 just so I'm not taking the Mojo with me...

    Amp/DAC options up to ~$500

Thanks, I'm comparing that to the compiled list in my last post. The only question is with the Audeze headphones, but I'm not sure where they get their upper range to be at 4w (EL-8) and 1w (Sine). Since they don't seem to overpower my M3, they should be fine in practice with the Mojo or similar...

    Amp/DAC options up to ~$500

Part of the reason this is becoming complicated for me is that I have 4 different setups that I'm trying to figure out how to allocate everything between. In my original search, my X-DAC was still alive. Its death shuffled everything around.   Setup 1: Home theater. Gaming/Movie use...

    Schiit Fulla 2 Impressions Thread

Maybe I don't understand your issue, but I don't believe you need OTG implementation if your phone has USB-C. I use a simple Cable Matters USB 2.0 Type C (USB-C) to Mini B (Mini USB) to connect my Fiio E17 to my Pixel.

    Amp/DAC options up to ~$500

That's good to hear about it becoming intuitive with use. I'd really like to demo one in person because something about it just isn't "clicking" with me. With respect to the size, I was thinking more about amplifiers and their power supplies, having seen the internals of some of the other...

    Amp/DAC options up to ~$500

I have never heard a Chord Mojo, but if a small form factor can apply equal sound as a larger, what compromises are being made? Are full-sized components purposely using large enclosures and charging extra mark-up?   My other issue with the Chord is I do not like its design. I think it looks...

    Amp/DAC options up to ~$500

I use a Windows PC I built, oldest part is a few years old, solid psu with a UPS (pure sinewave), motherboard outputs optical and analog. (Mobo Asrock z97 killer with Realtek ALC1150   I can also use an old turtle beach audio advantage micro for optical, or my ps3/xbox one. May also use with...
