      Check out the hirez Tokyo String Quartets recorded over the past 5 years.  The SACD's are very, very good sounding.

      I've probably got over 100 Vivaldi albums, this one is my favorite - Podger is outstanding, as is the sound quality.

    Agree with bigshot - Glass tries my patience more often than not.  John Adams, Terry Riley, and Steve Reich are all much more interesting composers from the "minimalist" school.

    Recently Lagavulin came out with a "Distillers Edition", which is double matured in sherry to finish it.  It is one of the very great scotch whisky's of the last decade, IMO.

    I love Mackerras in everything he does, except Brahms.  He's too even handed, to beautiful for Brahms.  IMO, Brahms needs searing emotional intensity or he falls flat.    For Brahms, check out Szell, Toscanini, Levine, and Dorati for the Symphonies.   The Piano Concerto's are best served...
