    You ought to start listing the equipment you use in your reviews. Either you're not at all powering these cans, or you just have a total mismatch of equipment. These should sound pretty nice given the right amplification.

    The HD598's cable's got a 3,5mm plug in the headphone-end which you can twist and pull out. Should probably be shorter replacement-cables with 3,5mm in the amp/player-end available soon. Without it you would need the gigantic adapter, which is not at all an elegant solution. Portability...

    Spooky; I don't know what purpose the cotton ring serve, but probably some dampening? What I do know is that removing the metal pins that held it together fixed my rattle. It looked kind of cheap and badly done, so I removed them and sew the ends together instead. Worked like a charm for me.
