Foobar easy switching between output devices
When I switch between external DACs I need to change the Output Format. It would be helpful if there was a way to specify the Output Format per device. Is that possible?- Sithuk

Headroom micro dac upgrade
Thanks mbritt, that's a really helpful recommendation. I wasn't aware of the new "multibit" DAC technology. It looks like the technology has moved on since the Cirrus Logic CS4398 DAC in my headroom microdac. It looks like I should consider either the Modi Multibit ($249) or the Bifrost...- Sithuk

Headroom micro dac upgrade
Hi guys, a few years later, and an update on my chain as follows. pc optical out (Realtek digitial out) -> headroom micro dac -> graham slee solo ultra linear amp (linear power supply) -> HD650 Same question as 7 years ago, how much would I benefit from an upgrade? I think the dac is my weakest...- Sithuk

Audio-GD NFB-2 & NFB-3 Delivery & Impression Thread
1) Does anyone know how a Squeezebox Touch DAC compares to a NFB-3.1? (I know of one person on the Head-Fi product review page who commented that in a blindfold test he was unable to discern a difference) 2) How about a Headroom Micro DAC compared to a NFB-3.1? 3) There were a few...- Sithuk

Headroom micro dac upgrade
Update: I've just made the move to a Squeezebox Touch. I've been comparing the analogue outs on the Touch to that from the Headroom Micro DAC and the micro DAC sounds ever so slightly better on the highs, there isn't much in it. Would I get much benefit in replacing the Micro DAC with a...- Sithuk

Headroom micro dac upgrade
Hi, I bought a Headroom Micro DAC when I needed a more portable setup. I've been slowly upgraded to a home based setup. My current kit: FLAC -> Squeezebox (SPDIF out) -> Micro DAC -> Graham Slee Solo SRG -> HD 600 (Cardas cable upgrade) The upgrade bug has just bitten again...- Sithuk

Headroom Micro DAC mini to rca cable sound quality
apatN and ascherjim: Thank you for your responses. I'm not convinced on the need to spend $$$ on specific interconnects. I'll try and find a mini to RCA cable that is short (6" or so) and seems robustly made with gold plated terminations.- Sithuk

Headroom Micro DAC mini to rca cable sound quality
Hi guys, I'm looking into a new amp at the moment and as it has RCA inputs I'll need a mini to RCA cable to connect with my Headroom Micro DAC. At the moment i'm running a mini to mini into my SuperMacro v3. Is there any sound quality drop in running from a mini port to RCA inputs? Should...- Sithuk

Cable length affect quality
Hi, I need a 15ft cable for my HD600s and I'm worried that the sound quality might degrade over what a 10ft would offer. Am I worrying needlessly? I'm pushed towards the 15ft because of listening room geometry.- Sithuk

What cable do I need to connect Audigy 2 ZS to MicroDAC
Hi, I need a cable to connect my Audigy 2 ZS digital out to my MicroDAC digital in. I tried a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable that I was using to send an analogue signal to the analogue in of my SuperMacro3 v6 but it doesn't work. I get static. I'm guessing I need some fancy kind of digital coax...- Sithuk

My experience with the X-Fi Elite Pro vs. EMU0404/A2ZS after 1.5 months
Superstar, Nice review. I too am a hardened gamer and computer as source audiophile! My wallet has been utterly destroyed after discovering Head-fi.org too :-) I originally built my PC with an Audigy 2 ZS before I knew anything about resampling etc. I bought a set of HD600s which...- Sithuk

X-Fi + Micro DAC vs E-MU 0404 + Micro DAC
Does the low end X-Fi model support the bit perfect SPDIF output without resampling? I too am going down the road of a MicroDAC to feed my Supermacro3. I am currently feeding my FLAC through a Audigy2 ZS which resamples to 48kHz and sounds AWFUL. I had my eyes opened when I used the Rio Karma...- Sithuk

Supermacro 3 (v6) & my PC
I spent 200 hours burning in my recently arrived SM3 & HD600s. I tried feeding the SM3 via my Audigy2ZS but it sounds nowhere near as good as the same FLAC fed from my Rio Karma. It has been my portable Karma that has finally shown up my Audigy2 for the embarassment it is... disappointing to...- Sithuk
