HIFIMAN Flagship Headphone HE1000 Beta Testing Opportunity Complete - Feel free to still comment

Very interested. I have quite a variety of gear that I've personally owned to compare with that you can see on my profile, and I'd love to do a detailed comparison with the HD800 I currently have, which seems to be one of the main competitors. I also participated in the HE-400i demo tour when...

The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)

Mine is sitting in my cart, expires in 3 minutes. Probably not going to go for it. :(   Nevermind, just remembered that the waitlist is a thing.

MrSpeakers Alpha Dog Revealed! - The World's First Production 3D-Printed Headphones

Can anyone tell me the hex key size for the vari-bass port? I don't happen to have a set lying around, and searching the Mr. Speakers site and this thread hasn't come up with anything so far. Thanks.

HIFIMAN HE-400i touring event is coming.

Hello, I'm really hyped about the new line of headphones you guys are releasing. I'm going to get to demo the HE-560 for a few days relatively soon, and I'd love to get to compare them to the 400i, as well as my current gear. My current main system is Sennheiser's flagship HD800, with a Schiit...

Open Headphones under $500 to Complement MD2000

If you look around carefully, it is sometimes possible to find HE-500's for close to $500. Used or otherwise.

I "burned in" my new headphones, now they sound distorted

Yep. If you don't have reason to directly assume a problem with the equipment, generally look at the source. Good recordings work wonders.

In your opinion, how much bass is too much bass?

When I can no longer hear the mids in all their glory, I'd definitely consider that too much bass.

In-ear/ear canal earphones under $250 with in-wire remote and mic.

Afraid I haven't tried or heard much about the IEM's by the those brands. All of those are much better known for their full size headphones than their in-ears, I believe. Good luck!

    Looking for Sub-$500 Over-Ear Headphones for EDM: V-Moda M100?

The P7's are very nice, I think less bass-heavy than the M100, but with better soundstage. Depends on your preferences really. The momentum's aren't a bad choice by any means. I've only head the momentum's in person, and I think they'd be quite good for EDM, but they're more of an all-rounder...

    Tube DAC into Tube amp?

Thanks for the replies guys. I suppose I might as well check out the vali hype. The T1 doesn't seem to do much of the tube magic on the HD800 that I've heard about, still very bright sounding, although it still sounds good and has plenty of power. I haven't had a proper tube amp to compare, so...

    Tube DAC into Tube amp?

Hi guys. I'm considering getting a schiit vali as an amp to compliment my Aune T1, which I'm currently using as an amp/DAC combo, but can just be used as a DAC, which has a tube design. Does having tubes at both parts of the signal chain create any sort of strange effects? Or does the sound just...

Choosing a good IEM under $200?

The GR07 has a "bass edition" model, which might give you the extra bass you're looking for. There aren't really many IEM's as durable as the Shure's around, gotta make compromises somewhere to meet a price point.

In-ear/ear canal earphones under $250 with in-wire remote and mic.

You missed all the fantastic IEM deals around black Friday unfortunately. Westone 3's for under $200, Logitech UE900's for under $250. Give yourself some time to adjust to the sound, the SE215's are a very bass heavy IEM, you might find that you like the increased treble over time.

Ultrasone Signature DJ or Denon D7100?

The new Denon line seems to be overall pretty mediocre. The older D7000 was highly regarded as one of the best closed headphones, but the new line is pretty eh. Given your preference for a bit of bass, I'd also take a look at the Fostex TH600, also a very good closed headphone at that price range.

    Perfectionist with little knowledge...

The Fostex TH600 is another option, though I don't think they have very much noise isolation, despite being closed.
