The box they come in works well for this on its side. Never thought I'd hear a pair of closed backs I like but these really are close in signature to the 650/6XX. Let me add that I do EQ my 6XX using oratory's 650 settings.

Equator D5 Studio Monitors at $299/pr and the JBL 2325Ps are the best I've heard for less than $500 in my project studio. Room treatment is as important as speakers if accurate sound is what you're after. DIY solutions are inexpensive but it's easy to spend $500+ on professional products.

I really can't tell any difference in the way the large silicon tips fit depth wize using either the IE7 or 8s. Some IE8 owners are suggesting to NOT wedge them deep into your ears to get the best sound from them.
