The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
I can make the case for both speakers and HP. I don't listen enough to a system I have more than $150k into because I don't want to disturb the family (I listen LOUD). That's why I am looking at phones (again). Would prefer not to have top spend more than $5k all-in because I have spent a lot...- IHMEYERS

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
The room does matter. Mine is not so great but I have learned things about acoustics and have invested $$$ in room correction products that make even a meh room sound pretty good. My system is very high end. Would it sound even better in a good room, absolutely but it still kicks ass.- IHMEYERS

Thanks for the response. How the hell do you accomplish that? No dealers locally (S. Florida). I'd hate to invest $5k in a phone and then find out it doesn't work with a pair of $12k amps and then have to buy another amp. Now I remember why I got out of high end HP about 5 years ago and just...- IHMEYERS

Any opinions on pairing a 35W SET amp (6C33) with either the Abyss or the Susvara phones? I have a pair of Wall M50s just sitting around gathering dust that I used in a set-up with single driver speakers. The Walls sounded great driving Tonian speakers and I thought might be good driving...- IHMEYERS

SPL Phonitor X / Phonitor E impressions and Discussion thread
I have a V280 which is basically a V281 without the flexibility. I only needed a headphone amp as I have a high-end preamp in the system. After living with the V280 for 3 months I love it's punch and raw power. It's a little cooler than I am used to with my LCD-X at least compared to the...- IHMEYERS

Violectric HPA V280 - balanced headphone amp - impressions and discussion thread
I understand how it works. If it could be replicated more cost-effectively I believe it would have and that information would be at least semi-widely available. For me, given the fact that I have multiple systems that I have decent money into it was worth it. Check out the...- IHMEYERS

Maybe, maybe not. I honestly don't know enough to say. I do know that a lot of people with significant investments in an audio system have one and swear by it. For me it was worth the purchase.- IHMEYERS

Violectric HPA V280 - balanced headphone amp - impressions and discussion thread
***UPDATE *** I bought and received a Cable Cooker this week to burn in all my cables. I started with the XLRs that run into the V280. Burning them in made a HUGE difference. The upper midrange glare is totally gone and the bass is even tighter than it was before. Tonally it sounds very...- IHMEYERS

South Florida Head-fiers?
I am in Palm Beach County, Lake Worth to be precise. I have a pair of LCD-X and I just bought a Violectric V280 amp for them. I trade in and out of equipment pretty frequently. I may or may not be able to make it Saturday on short notice but Pompano in general is OK for me. I don't have...- IHMEYERS

Violectric HPA V280 - balanced headphone amp - impressions and discussion thread
First (and very brief) thoughts after 2 days on break-in... 1) Very powerful, drives the LCD-X with authority 2) Music emerges from a black background, zero noise in between passages. 3)Fantastic bottom end, much better than the RWA Audeze amp. 4) A little harder upper midrange...- IHMEYERS

Violectric HPA V280 - balanced headphone amp - impressions and discussion thread
Just unboxed mine so haven't had too long to listen. The one thing I noticed immediately was the slam and how robust the power supply is. I actually had to set the preamp to -6db and that's with the LCD-X. I had a RWA Audeze previously and while that drove the LCD-X OK I had to turn it up...- IHMEYERS

I just bought a V280 yesterday from the very helpful Arthur Power. I will pair this with my LCD-X and a PS Audio DAC/Transport front end. Looking forward to receiving it and getting it plugged in for the weekend.- IHMEYERS

Official HIFIMAN HE1000 Impressions Thread
Has anyone ever tried the HE-1000 with the RWA Audeze headphone amp? I sold my LCD-X phones last year and am deciding between getting a new pair of 'phones for that amp or selling the amp altogether. I had the RWA in a system with PS Audio Transport / PS Audio DSD. Have recently read a few...- IHMEYERS
