yeah, i think it is the cable material that makes the only difference in sound.

i am very excited that this will be out on the market soon. i have been waiting for a player like this for a good while.

What tips do you use on your ie7.  My favorites are the stock foam ones.

I use mine especially when i want to listen to some dubstep.  great bass response that my other phones just dont have.

I have tried the um3x and did not care for the signature.  I had the ie7 a while back but sold them.  I just picked up another pair off ebay for a pretty good price.  Almost brand new.  I really enjoy the foamie tips that come with it.

I found that the ibasso d7 sidewinder for a computer dac sounds prety good and the colorfly c3 sounds the best out of the daps i have tried(sansa clip, iphone 4, ipod video.

I have found that if you enjoyed any tips for larger nozzle sizes the shure olive foam core with foam removed fits them.  i use the monster tips with my 4r this way.

I wanted to add a suggestion.  With my westone 4 and most of my other thin nozzle iems, i use the core from the shure olives.  I leave just a tiny bit of foam on and just about every larger diameter tip will fit.  I use the monster regular round rubber tips most often.  Good isolation, no deep...

I had the um3x rc a few months ago but i just could not get into them.  They had a little too much bass that to me overpowered the other frequencies.  The quality of the music was there but the sig was just not my cup of tea.  I just recieved my westone 4r on monday and have been enjoying them...
