    Sennheiser MOMENTUM On-Ear Contest

I like things on my ears.  For a while I walked around with wet noodles on my ears but they just felt kind of funny.   Then, I wore a pair of bagels on my ears but got too many Princess Leia comments...   I tried to stop putting things on my ears for a while after that until someone suggested...

Comparisons: 36 of the Top Closed/Portable Headphones Around

just a quick word, after much deliberation, and thanks in part to this thread, I pulled the trigger on the M500 a couple of weeks ago.  I had a problem with the cord jack in the headphones...  had to insert, then push really hard to get full sound in both ear pieces.  I listened for a few days...

Quote: This is my thinking exactly..  any word on KEF coming out with a circumaural?      The isolation isreally not that much of a concern, ( I have some IEMs (qJAYS, Dunu Trident) for airplanes & loud work environment), but leakage is a concern....  sounds like the KEF are top of list for...

Comparisons: 36 of the Top Closed/Portable Headphones Around

Quote:   This is exactly why I find myself reading this Excellent thread!   Thank you MH for taking the time to write about your experiences.      I'm kinda torn between the Momentum's, M500, or a pair of Mad Dogs (apples and an orange?).  Most listening would be around the house...

Do you guys have any options about MadDogs balanced vs. normal?  ...and any crazy good synergy going on with a specific amp (portable and/or desktop)?

Cool, thanks you guys...  the Mad Dogs are my front runners now.  Still have a bit of reading to do, but sounds like they would be worth a try

Thnx Hans.  After reading the first couple pages of the MadDog thread it's difficult NOT to want them.  A few people even selling off their HD-650 and HE-500s...     Hmmmmmm   need to read more, but I wonder if it might make sense to get a set of T50RP and have a go at DIY mods....   probably...

First nice set for $500 or less (looking for good bang for the buck):

So... after reading a bit more this morning, I am leaning heavily toward the HD-650.     Though now I am also interested in the Vmoda M-100, and I think the Sennheiser HD25-1 II might have a place (as a portable set) for me as well.  And, I turned up the Sony MDR-1R...   Even though I...

Cool, thanks for the posts!  Looks like I have my work cut out for me, now just gotta get up a couple of hours before my daughter tomorrow so I can read up.   Sounds like comfort level on the HE-500 is pretty low.  I'll check out the AT w1000x...    I have heard a pair of Beyers (don't...

Thanks for the links nk77            so... is there any real competition for the HE-500 (used) in the $500 range?     Seems pretty heavily weighted in their favor based responses so far.

Thnx Armaegis for confirming my gut...  I edited the title of this thread to reflect the most important thing in my search.   I should also mention that portability (and easy to drive) would be a plus [not mandatory], as there are occasions that I would like to use this set to listen when an...

Are the HE-400 similar enough to the HE-500 or a totally different animal?  Are the 500's worth the price difference?   Also any comparisons on comfort level between the Senns and HiFi-Mans?
