on-ear headphones for primarily death metal & grind?

yes, i meant sennheiser everywhere i mentioned samsung.   i think the qualities that make these great for death metal would also make electro stuff sound good. the bass is just really, really good.   they look similar in form to the akgs, so i don't doubt that you'd experience the same...

on-ear headphones for primarily death metal & grind?

follow up over a year later:   got the sennheiser hd-25 1 ii a day or two after my last post. they're excellent.   about a month ago i decided to try a few over-the-ears to find something more comfortable & i wasn't sure i loved them anymore. ironically enough: - i ended up getting new...

touche, but michael bolton is to opeth, as opeth is to the music i'm describing. not even in the same ballpark. i'll give blowing out the grill a shot, thanks.

association is subjective. devourment sounds absolutely nothing like the beatles. and really none of those bands are extreme or remotely heavy, aside from a few dillinger escape plan tracks. that being said, my grados started crackling within a couple days, so i'm no longer interested in them.

i guess i don't know if i'd want flat or colored. i think i'd like increased bass...but not entirely sure. and just to clarify, most of the death i'm listening to is not super lo-fi...most of my library is post probably...2002.

@yepimonfire - apologies, didn't realize those charts had item numbers on them until after i'd replied. @owners of grados - is buzzing/crackling part of the break-in process? the right ear was doing it for 2-3 days, but now the left ear is while the right seems to have stopped. a bit stumped...

the hd25-1 is a bit more then i'm looking to spend. not completely ruling it out, but it's about 50 more then i was wanting to spend. source is my imac at work, so i don't think that's the issue? i've also been using them with my roland td-8 electronic drums, which they really do sound...

so i grabbed the grado 60is. 3 days in, and the right earphone is buzzing. the sound is alright...it's definitely a bit...more clear then the $30 sony studio headphones i was using before, but not double-the-price good. durability wise though, they obviously can't hold a candle. so i'm...

Quote: any recommendations for something with more bass?   i guess i don't want 'thumping bass'...most of the stuff i'm into has really clicky/punch kicks, but a lot of bass an mid-range in the mix. tough.
