Was it you that recommended Lavricables.com for the solid silver braided litz cables? I ordered 2m of wire from him and have been TREMENDOUSLY impressed with the quality. A little tricky with the jacketing when soldering sometimes, but the transmission is unreal. Brought my Z7's to a WHOLE...- Cactus

I found today when making my new cable that the 3.5mm jacks that go into the headphones are still stereo jacks (NOT MONO!). Rather than the ground being the sleeve, it is the ring (middle piece of the 3). It goes Sleeve, Ring, Tip, and you'll want your Signal wire (red/positive) to connect...- Cactus

Finally got around to doing the surgical tape dampening and solid silver internal wiring upgrades and after spending the WHOLE DAY, I'm finally sitting down to give them another listen. I also made a new cable to complement the new silver on the inside with a full set of silver wires on the...- Cactus

Made a new cable for my new MDR-Z7's :-D Black PET sleeve surrounding 4 core braided solid silver cabling up to the Audioquest Cable Pants, then down to Blue and Red PET surrounding 2 core braided silver, terminating with Oyaide 3.5mm plugs (silver rhodium). Next to the...- Cactus

Why would you want to change to 2.5mm? Just a convenience thing? As far as OEM replacement plugs, no idea where to source them from :-/- Cactus

Check out lavricables.com, that's where I ordered the wire I'll be using to do my internal wiring, as well as to make aftermarket headphone cables. 2m of the solid silver braided wiring is what I went with, I figured that would give me enough to make the cables as well as do the internal wiring :-)- Cactus

Eh, decided to go with Oyaide connectors instead. Just got my parts ordered for the wiring mod and to build a set of more manageable cables. I'll submit pictures once completed :-)- Cactus

Welp, got all my parts ordered. Oyaide Rhodium 3.5mm connectors, solid silver braided wire from Lavricables.com, some cable pants for the y-split, some 1/4" and 1/8" PET sheathing for the wire, and now all I have to do is sit and wait. *starts twiddling thumbs* I'll post pictures of...- Cactus

Can anyone point me towards a good "how-to" thread to make something like this? This is pretty much exactly what I want to try to build for my first cables. I may be over thinking it, but I want to get it right the first time around :-)- Cactus

Whitigir, I used your link to find that seller on ebay, so now I have a good source for the cabling (thank you!). Would you use this same wire to do the internal wiring mod? Or do you suggest something different? Can you give me some suggestions for which connectors to use and where to find...- Cactus

BestBuy 100$ limit.
Another option, if you're looking for something along the lines of in-ear as opposed to on/over the ear would be the Shure 210 headphones, which I think are available right around that $120-130 price mark.- Cactus
