I think this is the Mk2; I know it's not a Mk3. There's a review somewhere comparing the Mk2 and Mk3, but I can't find it at this time. As I recall, there were some minor differences in sound but nothing really significant.

What an illuminating graph! I'm astonished to see the bottom-of-the-line SR60 has the most neutral frequency response! (And MUCH more bass response than any of its cousins.)

Does anyone manufacture replacement earpads for the Sennheiser HD 650 that are thicker at the back than they are at the front? The headphones themselves have enough play for this to work comfortably, and I have a sneaking suspicion it would enhance the sound.   Thank you, Eric

I use 1940s Sylvania VT-231, too, and love them. The tubes have such a natural ease--no hardness or grain--that it blows me away. There's also plenty of extension on both ends and plenty of detail. I've tried numerous others, NOS and current production, and none have come close.
