HD600 leakage -- acceptable in a private office?

I worked at a office (a wooden building with several rooms upstairs on second floor) and I was using a Senn HD-600 and the boss was 2 rooms away and came in to tell me to turn it down or off. I was playing fairly loud but not anyway near danger level. And we were above a bar on the first floor...

Why the Sennheiser HD598s are considered the best headphones in the world. Sennheiser HD598 review.

24 db boost in the sub-bass? Heck why not just go for 50 or even 75. Make it an orgy of bass. Now I dont know if that makes it a best headphone -- or even a best bass. Maybe the most bass if the tones are not totally wrecked in distortion.

The four types of sound signature

Yes its hard to know where your treble is if the bass is walking all over it.

Looking for high quality, lightweight headphones

For $300 you could get the B&W P5 which are light and comfy and are generally evenly balanced in sound. Ditto the Beyerdynamic DT-1350 which are less bright than the P5 but also reasonable in comfort and have a wide range quality sound. Both are very well made and on-ear and I think both are closed.

    New Beyer DT1350

    1) I'm fairly certain I did not say there was a review on Tyll's site - but the test results are there, if you have the ability to find them (hard to do I know). 2) The earthquake effect as I described it again and again requires frequencies at or below 20 hz, which is being grossly...

How do you listen to music on headphones?

You can hear things listening in daylight or maybe office light that you won't normally hear in the dark because you get distracted somewhat by visual things and certain sounds become more noticeable that way. Hard to describe but of course everyone is different but the different experience of...

    New Beyer DT1350

This is a great question but one which may not get a reliable answer since extremely few recordings have those frequencies and when they do are very very weak. If you want to know how the 1350 handles those frequencies you can try test tones which will answer the question. BTW I have the...

Impressions and comparisons: Pioneer Monitor 10; AKG K240 DF; Pioneer Monitor 10R; Philips N6330; Sony DR 6A; Sony MDR CD900 ST; Beyerdynamic DT48E.

This is great stuff. One persons listening preferences may be just that but when many headphones are compared in such detail much useful information emerges.

    New Beyer DT1350

I have heard the HD800 described by a few people as slightly bright but you are the first I have heard to say sharp and harsh. Must be some really bad source material. And youre right that the 1350 suckout is only "10 additional db" below normal. But then 10 db below normal is a lot.

And just so you dont get the wrong idea I hope you are right about the 1350 and I am wrong because I so much wanted to love that headphone and buy one to keep. The bass is to kill for. If it turns out to be highly regarded I will retrain my brain to love the new kind of sound.

    New Beyer DT1350

And BTW the notion that the general public would prefer a "rolled off" treble isnt supported by any statistics I have heard. Rolled off treble on a low budget peaky crappy sounding headphone maybe. But you dont get Sennheiser HD800 sound for cheap. I cant even imagine if HD800 sound were...

    New Beyer DT1350

The problem with the 1350 isnt a perception of "darkness" or some other such vague feeling. The problem is the lack of important musical detail that is missing due to that undeniable minus 25 db suckout in the upper midrange or lower highs. I suppose many people don't miss it because its not on...

    New Beyer DT1350

    1) Only 5 of 40 people liked the HD800? Pretty funny. 2) Minus 25 db at 7 khz is a "downward slope"? Thats hilarious. 3 The LCD2 or SR007 as popular or as highly regarded as the HD800? Mind boggling!
