If you're looking for a superbly musical amp, one that you'll have trouble turning off because it sounds so good, this isn't it. This is more like a frigid girlfriend. If you're a fan of "wire with gain" or whatever the heck that's supposed to mean, God bless you, let me give you my PayPal address. I'll even eat the fees.

Color is fingerprint-magnet glossy black, condition is like new. DACT version. No issues.

Been meaning to get rid of this dreck for years; merely seeing it in my audio rack is giving me agita.

To be fair I understand where @mwilson is coming from... The GS-X MK2's "wire with gain" qualities are unparalleled but it makes my ADHD goes into overdrive and causes me to second guess every other component in my listening chain a tad too much. A warmer, more analogue source with this amp is almost a necessity.

Two of the DACs I ran through the GS-X are most certainly warm and analog-sounding. But you know what, in the interest of selling the amp, yay, wire with gain! Best thing ever! Come on down and get it while it's available! *cough* suckers *cough*.

I had to log in just to comment😅

Sad to know you didn't like it and kudos on the honest words. Hehehe😆. Still chuckling.

Anywho, I agree that it might be bright at times. One of the main reasons I didn't go for it. I finally went for the V281 because it is exactly what I was looking for: Smooth, detailed and powerful.

The Pass labs amp is also a good option. It's a tad smoother than the V281 (a bit less powerful too) but it won't be a bother unless you're comparing these side by side. Built like a tank for FWIW. Should last armageddon.

Good luck with your sale and your new purchase!!:gs1000smile:

IMHO this amp sounds vastly different on different sources; it prefers lower input level. For example, on my May KTE using XLR it sounds like utter garbage, however on the RME ADI-2 using XLR, with volume turned down to -18.5 and the GS-X mini flipped to high gain, it sounds warm, velvety, punchy, fantastic.

This thread isn't about the GS-X mini, which I've never auditioned. If my GSX mk2 sounded warm, velvety, punchy, fantastic, it wouldn't be up for sale. Then again, if it's supposed to be transparent, wire with gain (I am sick and tired of even seeing the words "wire with gain") then how could it even be warm, velvety, punchy, fantastic?
