If you're looking for a superbly musical amp, one that you'll have trouble turning off because it sounds so good, this isn't it. This is more like a frigid girlfriend. If you're a fan of "wire with gain" or whatever the heck that's supposed to mean, God bless you, let me give you my PayPal address. I'll even eat the fees.

Color is fingerprint-magnet glossy black, condition is like new. DACT version. No issues.

Been meaning to get rid of this dreck for years; merely seeing it in my audio rack is giving me agita.

Dunno. Thinking of trying a Pass HPA-1; I have a couple amps from Nelson Pass and I like what he's doing with sound.

I was referring to synergy, and did not mean to imply that your system was insufficient.

What's exciting or boring can vary wildly with each person. I understand the perception of it being sterile, but lots of precision equipment can be described as such.

Personally, I'm much more a fan of the TH900 than the LCD-4z. (Haven't heard the LCD-4, but the LCD-4z seems to be mostly the same.) Different headphones typically contribute more to the overall sound than switching amps. Perhaps the LCD-4 isn't a great match for the GS-X mk2.
I also had it paired with a Resolution Audio Cantata, and a Cambridge Audio Edge NQ. Phones tried were two versions of LCD-4, one LCD-3 and maybe, don't remember exactly a Sennheiser HD-800. Most of those sounded very engaging with other amps, except when gsx was in the mix. I didn't have the dcs when I also had the other amps/phones so can't comment on that, but since I've already arrived at my conclusion that the gsx sucks before getting the dcs I think it's a fair assumption that its synergy isn't at play.

Look, this thread isn't to litigate the aural merits of the amp; rather my honest opinion of it in the context of offering it for sale. I'm not going to misrepresent to potential buyers that it's the best thing since sliced bread.

That’s it! I liked the schiit amps, Burson, and violectric a lot for their sound sigs. If you like what Pass is doing then I think that’s a safe bet :) as I didn’t like the sterile nature of the thx amps and the lake people reference amps (rs08) are good but they were just…….lifeless? Even with the th900 on the lake people rs08 and thx 789 just sounded less full and more dull on the 900 compared to the violectric, and the Burson I had at the time.

I applaud you for your extreme candor. Like others have said, it’s refreshing in a way to see this kind of brutal honesty in a listing.

My personal opinion is that an amplifier’s job is to amplify an electrical signal, not inject colorations of tone, the latter being more of a “bonus.” Though an important consideration, I don’t think it’s fair to say the amp “sucks” simply because of its neutrality. But, it’s YOUR listing, YOUR item, so you can say whatever you want! I just think it’s worth adding that this amp outperforms the vast majority of headphone amps when it comes to clean watts per $. I own the exact same amp in the exact same finish (gorgeous IMHO), and if I didn’t, this listing would already be over.

To extreme candor in selling :beerchug:
