Its not a pair I still own But I just landed a pair of Sennheiser HD400's from the eighties. A friend of the family had some when I was just a kid and I remember falling in love with the sound they produced, Well mum and dad could never afford them back then ( funnely enough it was in the 80's when i listened to them so they were either new or not that used as the blokes an audiophile himself )

Anyway, I just by chance came across a pair on Ebay for a decent buy it now price, They need ear pads, Luckely I have some already!

Cant wait to get them and have a listen!! :)

The oldest headphones I still own are those I still use on a daily basis : the Sony MDR CD1000.
I bought them brand new in the early 1990's, and I had to replace the earpads. They're one of the best headphones I own, after the CD3000.
I also bought a use pair of MDR CD750 on ebay. They're quite good, but not as good as the CD1000. I also had to replace the earpads on the CD750, . They use the same earpards as the CD1000 and CD3000.

Koss UR40 i picked up around 2004. These were the ones without the bassier titanium drivers that came out later. I also picked those up about three years ago after seeing how great the original Koss UR40 are.

I used to own the original Koss Pro 4AA which was in the family since the mid 1970s. Around 1996 they started giving up the ghost and i stopped using headphones til i got the Koss UR40 in 2004 but didnt really get into the whole headphone hobby thing til i started living in noisier neighborhoods where speaker use wasnt always the most immersive.

Sennheiser 590:

Closing in on 10 years now - used them A LOT before I got the HD650s.

Still a great headphone, lacks bottom end *grunt* and slam but has fantastic "air" and clarity. Very Sennheiser like sound. "Disappears-off-your-head-comfortable" - lol

They also do surprisingly well against my HD650 and HD800 in comparisions I must say - of course the HD650 and HD800 are better, a lot better actually, but they are also 5 and 10 times the price...

I've refurbished them with new pads so they're basically good as new.

A few snaps of my HD400's -
In mint condition and one previous owner before me.
All that needed changing was the Jack so I opted for a Viablue T6s 3.5mm...

These are the oldest I own. I do not know the age, but it came with an old orange Sony Walkman. I can remember my father using them when I was a kid, so they are probably around the same age as me (25 years).

AKG K-240 Sextets, purchased for $150 from Tech Hi-Fi when I was in college in 1982.  Used to listen to them for hours on end in the headphone out of my NAD 3020.  My first really good pair of headphones, they set me off down this madness we call a hobby.

My AKG K340s  I bought in the early 80s are also in great shape except I need some new elastic bands for them. Does anyone know where to find them? Yesterday I listened to Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds Live at Radio City blu-ray over them. I have four other headphones including some M50s and none of them can come even close to the performance of these.
