well i have a fully modded (basotect cup damping, 2 whole taped, hd25 velours) and a stock one and both show better layering, imaging accuracy and soundstage depth than the m80.

LMAO PICS NOW!!!

Did you do that crazy @ss tape mod those folks used on those poor S400s along with some mods from this S500 thread. Cuz your super modded set of S500s sounds funky as hell.

first i opened the cups and put a 3mm layer of basotect foam in the cup to dampen the resonance which makes the bass tighter. than i covered two of the three holes on the front side of the driver to get more bass emphasis because the sennheiser velours tend to kill the bass. at last i stuffed the velours with q-tips (ear cleaning cotton sticks) to bring more air between driver and ears, which results in better soundstage depth. btw it is important to keep the front hole (from the three mentioned above) uncovered, otherwise you will loose soundstage depth.

These HA-S500s sound AMAZING on the Project Woodwind. It's an amp in construction, and I have a review sample... sounds AMAZING! Super tight bass, great CRISP highs, and slightly recessed, yet smooth vocals, making it AMAZING for anything electro! And I mean AMAZING!!!!!!!!! :D

The board with battery will be out in about a month without a case for $65, and in 4 or 5 months, an amp with a metal case and an ashwood top/bottom will be $85, or you could buy the board and then buy the case seperately when it comes out. There is sadly no volume control as it is an ULTRA portable amp, but might be added in future revisions. It sounds absolutely magical with my HA-S500s, like so good, I don't think I'll get an LCD2.2, but a lighter bass can, as this is ALL I need! Best portable rig I've heard, and cheap too! 4gb white Clip+ ($35) + 32gb MicroSD card ($20) + Woodwind amp ($85 w/ case) + HA-S500z ($60) = Ultra nice, ultra tiny portable rig ($200)! Also, I can only wait until I get my Fiio X3 and the makers of Woodwinds S/PDIF DAC! :D

I don't think I've ever heard them not sound amazing, no matter what I plug them into.....lol.

Well, the internal noise from my desktop's headphone-out sucks, so there's one thing.
