Ok. I guess I thought there was an easier way to do it. Thanks

You need the stock recovery to install the stock update.  Then you have to install the RB recovery (again) before you can install
RB (again).  Just think of it as how you installed RB in the first place.

Hi there!

I repacked a firmware based on 1.5.0. Some "bad" libraries were deleted and you can optionally disable 'ffmpeg' (on boot).
Check SQ, I think it's great(better than stock, especially with disabled ffmpeg):

Yes, if it wasn't for your PM msg I probably would never of tried. The sound explosion firmware has completely changed my views on DX50. It just sounds so much cleaner, spacious and no longer straining in the mid-range. I used to get a strange sensation from DX50 headphone out where it sounded like I needed to really crank up the volume to get good detail with vocals however that seems to be lifted and I can agree it sounds much wider and easier on the ears.

I haven't tried the mega explosion yet. But maybe will do so later down the road. (far as I know I am just using sound explosion?)

Would you mind sharing the link of the version you have installed please?  I'm a bit upset with the studder I'm getting from 1.5.0.

The firmware I'm using is the one in this post (the link with huge text)

On my DX50 it says firmware version : v1.2.9

And now I think my DX50 is awesome. Kudos to whoever came up with it.

There is a more current version based on the v1.5.0 firmware. When you install it, it reads version 1.5.0. and there is a new, cool start up page on Dx-50. Sounds a lot like old mega explosion except vocals seem more prominent.

There is also another firmware on this page that supposedly has more of a bassy signature... I haven't tried it yet. It is located pg. 914 post 13697.

Too many firmware. >_< Must stay where I am.

Seems like you're on Mega Sound Explosion. Probably can try out the stock 1.5 and also Sound Explosion V2 based on 1.5 too!

I think it's great there's so much to choose from. What with rockbox and so many alternative firmware for sound adjustments DX50 flexibility just tripled.

I ended up getting it done but not before a little scare that had me thinking I bricked my dx50, wheww. Don't know what happened, somehow ended up by pure luck to have pushed the right buttons and ended up with 1.5.0 installed. Im going to stay with ibasso firmware for a little while before deciding if I want to go the Rockbox route.

I found leaving RB much more fraught than installing it.  Not doing it again.  There's a batch tool that's linked on this thread that fixes things when you really screw up, but it only works with Windows and I'm on a Mac, so I'm not tempting fate.
