Just joined today, hi guys. I have had my DX50 for two weeks now, 1.2.8 has absolutely blown me away with the sound quality and how lifelike the sound is. I only hope when 1.2.9 is released and we get the DAC feature that the sound doesn't go back to how 1.2.7 sounded. I don't ever need an external DAC so if I hear there is a big change I won't update.

If yrs come pls do a short review whether the cable to short.... thanks

Sorry, the shipment took a while coming from DX.com

But here's the picture

The cable is long enough to reach the back of the DX50 and DX100 :) but you need to trim the plastic backing of the microsd side. I use an actual microsd to trim it to size :) the one of the picture is already trimmed :) for now, I'll be using this on the DX100 since the DX50 don't have a Software triggered manual media scanning yet

Wow thats a really nice looking cable for 13 bucks! Im excited to try some cables out with the DX50 once my Duet gets here!

Hi will u use the single ended line in and balance phone out of duet? Or will u be adding a db2 in the chain?

I'll be using single ended for now and will eventually move to balanced once i get the right cables and all that

Please excuse my ignorance of DSD, but is playback on the DX50 as easy as unzipping the downloaded album and copying the files to a card or internal memory and hitting Play???

Yep, as long the downloaded album is in single .dsf file format… otherwise you'll have to either to extract the .dsf files (from an .iso image of the whole SACD, if that's your source) or to convert to .dsf (if the source is in single .dff files).

To extract you can use sacd_extract (google it, it's a complement to the sacd ripper used with PS3s to make an .iso image of a SACD - it's also command line only), to convert Korg audiogate. If you already have .dsf files, all's fine

So far, so good on 1.2.8. Not a trace of harshness anywhere, slightly warm, analytical ENOUGH for serious listening...Completely craps on 1.2.7, but need to spend more time with it before I switch from 1.2.5 permanently. I want to say there is slightly less headroom than 1.2.5, but not 100% sure until I swap back. As usual, this is from the coax output. And I'm only about 20-30 songs into the test so far as well.

People new to the unit would probably want to stick with this one as a reference. Can't say I like dealing with the freezing issues on 1.2.5 or 1.2.2.

Ya this will be my first venture into balanced amp haha. Ill be sure to give some impressions and thoughts on how it pairs with the dx50 :)

IMO, I haven't liked the headphone amp on any of the firmwares I've used with any of the various gain switches. Lining out or coaxing out into something else comes highly recommended with the DX50. It just feels lacking. It is probably where they cut costs from the DX100 (I say that not having heard the DX100 however, but I would be using it the same way as I use the DX50...mostly for LO and Coax out). At the very least, pick up a Digizoid Zo out and lineout into it.

I agree that the headphone out is not the most impressive. Theres a little hiss with my asg2 and the sub bass extension hasnt been best for me. It has gotten better with the 1.2.8 though
