The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

No matter what they add on, I am not changing from FW 1.2.8 unless the sig is the same. Otherwise, I don't need anything more.

Totally agree. In fact the DX50 sounds so good I'm not sure I'll even consider going DX90. Listened to several hires organ recordings and I think this is the most real and life like I have ever heard from a rig. The DX50 has oficially retired my trusty Whipmod, it's a fantastic bargin at it's price and punches many levels above it's class

I spent quite a long time last night listening to FW1.28 from the DX50 headphone out and the sound is just "correct". I am not talking about sound quality - which is good - I am talking about rendering the soundstage in a natural linear manner with nothing weird going on.

In this one regard, the DX50 now sounds like Foobar, or an iPod, or the X5 (which got this right out of the gate) etc. That is what iBasso has accomplished and kudos to them. I am pleased.

Couldn't have said it better. I still use my DX50 mainly in my commute, but i'd love to have more time to listen to it. And i haven't even put DSD files in it yet (too lazy to try and rip). I'm very content with this firmware, i just hope it doesn't change the SQ for the next one...

I've been holding back from upgrading the FW because of the instability and different sound signatures. However, the latest one seems good enough based on what I've read on this thread. I'm going from 1.2.5 to 1.2.8. Just follow the instructions on the FAQ right? Don't wanna mess up. :x

Yes, just follow the instructions. Very straight forward. Drop the FW .img onto the DX50 internal memory, go to advanced. . . well just follow the instructions. I always go back and delete the file in the internal memory after I am done.

It's easier than you might think. The Pirate Anime FAQ over at Otaku News includes a list of various things to look for.

That's some interesting info, thanks.

Cheers,

Hi friends.

I'm listening to OPUS3 DSD SHOWCASE 1, its on DSD format.
Playback sounds amazing and flawless. I can't say if there's difference between the 24bit flac I usually hears..its amazing though...
