Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (24-bit/192KHz)

It seemed foolish to root (and possibly void the warranty) on my Note 3 just to add Viper4Android. A part of me thought it wouldn't sound any better than my Galaxy S2 (with V4A).But the staging and laidback mellowness of the sound (once I found my settings) was well worth it. It's like a new interpretation of my music with much reduced stridency and unevenness. I can't put it down.

Add me to the list of people who think the Note 2's DAC sounds better than the Snapdragon 800 DAC in the Note 3. Much better. Just goes to show you that numbers (192khz) don't mean anything.

Well it's all personal preference. Listening to it for half a month ice gotten the impression that it like the iPhone 4, does most things right however has grainy vocals...... Note 3 seems to provide more warmish sound compared to iPhone 4. I actually have to boost treble now when ip4 was okay without any eq at all

Yes vocals are a bit in the back on the n3. I find the n2 to just be more enjoyable.the n3 is just missing that spark in the music.

I really don't understand what you should have to root your phone to use v4a. It's not doing anything that should be viewed as illegal.

I hope they get is a root free kind soon

Cool I just discovered that it is extremely easy to switch between phones; so now I can use my Note 2 for airy pop/vocal songs, and then switch to the snapdragon 800 DAC when I want a warmer and more bassy / warmer tone.

All you need to do is go to a website and click a few buttons, and the other phone will be activated in a minute.

This might be a stupid question but does Adapt Sound affect third party music players?

Perfect. I was hoping that would be the case. OTG USB just puts out the raw, unprocessed digital data to an off-board DAC.

Engaging dolby 7.1 surprisingly increases bass response by A LOT. Impressive considering I'm using BA iems and already have set a sub bass boost eq..... The drivers should have made that indicative "clicking" sound they make when they're being pushed too far

Can anyone recommend a better solution for USB OTG than the pathetic cables supplied by Fiio? I noticed someone earlier using really thin one that was from, I think, Toxic Cables? I was out walking with dogs today and for some reason the sound kept cutting out. The fact that it was putting Neutron into pause I think points to a connection problem but I could be wrong. When I got home I tried everything to try and reproduce the fault and failed. Ironic? I still think there's a problem with it though. That cable is far too vulnerable sticking out like it does.

Another thing, I have a UK Note 3 - can anyone confirm exactly what DAC this uses?

Get a USB 3.0 otg cable, it inserts the full width and is more stable.

It's odd that I can't find male to male when I think about it. I mean, why not? Is it somehow more difficult to produce?
