Ok, for those who cant wait
wink.gif
, here's the new firmware with rockbox dualboot app (no other changes):

DX50 Firmware 1.8.0 with rockbox dualboot app

When nobody complains for some days I will include it in the installation instruction.
I've tried it and everything seemed to be working as before.

The boot speedup metioned in the 1.8.0 changelog maybe only affects mango.

Installation instruction you find on the first post.

Someone refresh my memory.  I'm currently running my DX50 with the (until now) latest Rockbox/Stock 1.6.0 firmware (non-cwm, of course).  What is the procedure to upgrade to the new 1.8.0 firmware?

Is it the same procedure as the stock firmware upgrade?

I did that, it works fine.

It seems most dap threads evolve into Rockbox threads, is it really that good ? It seems to dominate the conversations.

Considering the problems with most stock stock software on a DAP. Yes, Rockbox mostly fix those issues and adds more.

@KT66: What do you expect as answer from people in a rockox thread?
There has to be something about it if so many talk about it.
Here is the "Why rockbox?" page:

I just updated to the latest build but I can't make rockbox database inizialize from my usual folder in my sdcard.
I have a folder called "MUSIC" inside my sdcard but from database it's not recognized, I mean it can't be seen, therefore no music files are shown.
If I plug the USB cable it gets recognized and it's shown as usual from PC so what's happening?

Can you move your music out of the MUSIC folder to the root of the sd card? That'll probably fix it. Don't have my unit handy, but I vaguely recall there's some way to point the database at a specific folder for situations like yours, but don't know. Did it used to work properly with the files in the MUSIC folder? I don't use the database, so can't be of much help in the long run.

Do you have a file called database.ignore in that directory or any above it?

Alternatively, you could create an empty file called database.unignore in your MUSIC directory.

What i alway forget is that the directories that need to be scaned have to be selected, otherwise it never stops scanning the almost infinite amount of android files and folders.
Se here how to do it:
