Do I buy the card?

HD6850 - i5-4670k - 16GB RAM - Node 304 Case

I do not actually play current gen games, just like looking at the visuals.

If you like to 'play' games to look at the visuals. ....then maybe.

Depends on how much of a graphic wh0re you are.

Personally, I'm a big graphic wh0re.

I vote yes. Your processor should be able to work with the card better than mine (G3258) and I still went for it.

The Haswell Pentiums got good feedback and reviews for being budget gaming CPUs that work well with close to all games.

That was the CPU I was going to get, but It was able to buy the i5 4430 on sale for only $40 more than the Gxxxx that I was buying.

I snagged the Microcenter bundle with the processor and the MSI Z97 PC Mate mobo for $89 on the 4th. Pretty damned stellar deal, couldn't pass it up.

Not a bad deal. There is a new one right now, but not as good.

7970.  CPU has been the definite bottle neck since I bought the CPU since I don't play much outside of battlefield.

The only game with a clear bottleneck on my performance is World of Tanks unsurprising.

The game is known to be infamously bad at efficency and CPU reliant.

My College rig sports a Phenom II X4 965 BE while my home rig has the new i5 4430 in it. Both are using only one of my 7870 GHz's OC'd to 1175/1355 (game can't CFx well) and the difference is VERY noticeable. Near buttery smooth on the i5. 30fps with some drops often with the phenom.

Only game with such a clear and large difference.

Yep I haven't been playing many graphically intensive games at all lately I really have no reason to upgrade anything.  Sure as hell not getting hardline or spending any more time with BF4.

About to try and re-install after burner after a few months without it I'm starting to miss the fan profiles and OSD.  Problem is that before uninstalling it the gpu temp would go to 0 degrees after an hour or so of stress and then my fan would go crazy and I couldn't see my temps (not even hwmonitor would read them)  uninstalled AB and found it wasn't the sensor but the program.  I hope I don't have to flash my card or something like that.  I've already wiped my drivers.

Hybrid, you said you would be having that CNCed?  You should make the grill hexagons, looks all leet and plus the corners would all be radiused anyways.

So MSI afterburner still randomly crashes my entire PC after about an hour of gaming.  Uninstalled it and played fine without any crashes whatsoever.

Also dogecoin is so so dead, what I mined used to be worth over $100 is now worth $16

Just randomly checked that for the first time in several months.

Nice that a re-install fixed it

It was fun. I don't know about dead dead. But I'm just waiting around to see what happens.
