Depends on what you like, I just had the i5 for a tour and although it sounds great its a bit overall warm for me. I like the more analytical sound like this. I have this the opus#1 and Mojo which all have a near flat sound which i prefer. Dont get wrong, the i5 is one great sounding dap especially for classical or live music and if money was never an issue I would buy it.
That sounds about right when you turn off wifi on Onkyo and other Apps in the background that you don't need in android setting. My Zx2 last for about 20-24 hours on FLAC and some DSD too.
is onkyo customer service good?
I don't know what it's like for their other products but for the DP-X1 it's been non-existent.
CS reps appear to be unaware of the existence of the device.
Certainly my experience in the UK, and I've seen similar reports from US based members.
Onkyo have never oficially acknowledged any of the problems with this device. They did however quickly withdraw the optional extended warranty that was available when the device first launched in Japan once reports of broken headphone jacks started emerging.
While I still generally enjoy the player it'll be the last Onkyo device I buy.
So do you recommend me not to buy the dpx1?
If your main use is to play stored files using the native music player app, I'd recommend it without hesitation.
If you are likely to make a lot of use of third-party music apps such as Tidal, Spotify, Apple, Google, Amazon etc. I wouldn't recommend it.
I need both and while I'm not happy with certain aspects of the DP-X1, I haven't found anything else that can meet my needs at this time.
I had high hopes for the iBasso DX200, but they went and deleted the second SD card slot so it's now ruled out on the grounds of limited storage capacity.

I use my DP-X1 with Spotify (free) every day, without any issues, and I'm currently sitting here listening to Christmas videos of "Anúna" on YouTube, also without issues.
My DP-X1 is rooted, running the Xposed Framework, with modules to block ads on YouTube & SoundCloud, allow multiple skips in Spotify (free), and allow YouTube to run in the background and when the screen is off.
Take Care,
