Norne Zoetic cable does improve the sound of my HEK. Haven't heard the other one.

I literally saw one of the "high-end" cables recommended here use the same end 1/4" connector as the stock cable so IDK. Right now I"m debating between the eBay store ELA Audio's cable ($91) or the Norne Audio cable ($240). I did notice they both end with the same type of EIDOLIC connecter. Yet only one is 'OCC" certified, whatever that means. Honestly part of me thinks the appeal for hi-fi guys is about customizing your own cable and getting it in a color you want with a fancy splitter so they think it looks cool. I could care care less about all that stuff. I just want my music to sound better. Is is still worth it for me to buy one?

I've only tried single-ended but I enjoy it.  There is a synergy- with planars including lcd3f.  It is a little warm of neutral (but not too warm- somewhat dry) and has dynamic/power so compliments the HEK which is a little dark and needs power.

Out of all the amps I tried, I find that the He1000 scales quite a lot with balanced amps. With balanced amps I heard a deeper and more holographic soundstage and better imaging and more air between instruments.

Depends on the amp. Mine sound fine balanced with the LC, but better single ended through my MicroZOTL2.

Ditto, way better single ended on my Studio Six than balanced on my HA-1, just depends on the on the quality of the amp and also the pairing.
 
All things being equal Balanced will be better though.

Yeah I think so too - all things being equal balanced tend to be better in my exp. too particularly because of the increase in power.

Exactly, if an amp offers Balanced and Single Ended then Balanced is the way too go, usually because it just offers more power on tap.
