ONN X6 price has dropped little. Should I go for it or consider between ONN X5 or Benjie S5 rather?

  Hey guys,
extremely new at the DAPs, so wanted to ask if there's a clear winner (bang for the buck) in the $20-$70 price range?

Thanks !

There are good and bad players in that price category, in any price category really, but particularly in this one. Most of the players discussed here are good, but you can best narrow it down by focusing on what you want most such as: battery life, output power, screen type and size, bluetooth or no, and software features. Most of these players have a similar and surprisingly capable set of software features, so the hardware differences will probably be more meaningful, but for the price, and just to gain experience, you really can't go wrong with any of the players which are interesting enough to be discussed here.

I remember someone on here said that the only difference between the X6 & X5 is that the X6 has a speaker and is able to record audio.

thanks for answer. I think then I will go for X5 and update its software.

Anyone know of a cheap <$100 Chinese desktop DAC ? I want one for computer use to play my stored music. Been looking at some stuff from T music. Any thoughts?

I have looked at them too. I would be interested to try an AKM or Wolfson unit by them. They make some nice looking ESS Sabre ones too but i think the Hifimediy sabre dacs are cheaper.

Like the builds of these 2 but don't know about the quality.  https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Breeze-audio-SU1-AK4495-XMOS-U8-MUSES8820-ADUM-High-Speed-Digital-isolation-Asynchronous-USB-DAC-decoder/32733084800.html?spm=2114.13010208.99999999.277.iCxCm0

I'm going to run it into an amp from computer.

They both come out to over $100 which doesn't fill me with confidence. Not that they might be built bad - they're probably fine - but you can get a USA made DAC from Amazon with the same chip for $70 or $80. The AK chips are nothing new - I have a USB DAC made in 2003 which had the AK4396. Of course it was from when the 4396 was pretty new on the market, but it's only become more established since then.

Walnut in the house.

 so far so good.
Interesting controls.
I used the pot to turn it on, then with a higher volume was able to drop the volume down by holding left button down. Used right to bring it back up.
It seems this will allow you to select the usable pot volume range?
Recall reading something about turning it on with a button also.

Will toy with controls in a bit kinda hard when I am still using the thing ( 2 hours straight so far )

Really impressive so far. So far prefer it to the Ihifi 812v2 and C3 ( possibly even those amped ).

=Really solid/bold gorgeous sound.
Doesn't seem sloppy.
Notes seem well handled and controlled.
Noticing a lot of cleanly portrayed little things all about that didn't show so much with other stuff.
Seems to say 15v swing (?) also.
Translation at times can be goofy I am going off the ebay listing info I saved to pdf.

Testing is ongoing of course. Working through various tracks I know very well. Using with a JVC MX10-B at the moment  will have to try some others in due time.

Not bad shipping time from China to Canada here of that ebay listing. Ordered Oct 8, today is the 26

Curious to see what others think.

Who knows maybe it simply has good synergy with these particular headphones.
