**MrSpeakers Mad Dog: Impressions and Discussion Thread**

Anyone else noticing a strong smell of chemicals with the recently made comfort straps? The bottom side of the strap also seems to be flaking a bit...

The quality of the comfort strap on my previously owned Mad Dogs from Aug 2012 and another comfort strap bought right after the Alpha pads were released were substantially higher than the ones currently in production.

Our strap maker sent us a bad batch we rejected.  The smell was really bad, but the straps were mixed in with good ones and we had to sort the good from the bad by smell.  Our noses might have been fouled to the point we missed a couple of bad ones.   PM me your address and I'll ship you a replacement strap right away, as that smell is absolutely unacceptable.  If anyone else has a strap that does not smell like normal, quality leather drop a note and we'll take care of you.

Thanks Dan for the fast reply! I have sent a PM with details regarding my order.

*sigh *
Looks like I'll just have to buy a Mad Dog to go with my incoming Vali.

I've got too many headphones now to properly give each time so my mind tells me I should sell the Mad Dogs off since I got the TH600s. But why can't I bring myself to list them for sale. Its so hard. Am I a headphone hoarder?

Any comparisons between the MD(3.2), and the new(ish) ZMF modded T50RP's? I would like to know if the extra 50$ for the Mad Dogs is worth it over the ZMF's + Alpha Pads....

There's a thread aboud the ZMF: http://www.head-fi.org/t/667870/review-zmf-modified-fostex-t50rp-superb
Some don't like them that much with the Alpha pads. The pads Zach Mehrbach provides seems to do them more justice.
I had the MrSpeakers Dog pads on them, after trying the Alpha pads as well.

Sorry for intruding the Mad Dog thread this way.

Just got my Mad Dogs yesterday, have been listening to a few albums (pop/rock, acoustic) with Schiit Vali. Great stuff. I had a few appointments to leave the house for but I kept putting them off for as long as possible, just to enjoy the sound and comfort of these wonderful headphones.
Also just tried them straight out an iPod Classic (6th or 7th gen, I can't remember which). Impressively, also great. What's the specs on these headphones again? 92.5 dB and 50 ohms? I'm never going to need to sweat amplification again.

Just got my mad dogs today, only thing that annoys me is the silver screws so I may have to find some black ones and do a little modification of my own.

combined with the magni the audio quality is superb, and the comfort is unrivaled, not sure I'll be able to take them off.

I have 5 headphones including your 3.2's, he500's, and th-600's. I have mdr-7506's and srh1840's instead of your hd 600's and ad700's though. The 7506's, 3.2's, and 1840's I use for djing, recording and mastering. Have you thought about making music? Sometimes it helps to justify these expenditures.:xf_eek:
I have but I don't think I have any musical talent. Maybe I'll just think what the heck who am I kidding, this hobby includes collecting headphones. So what if I only take a listen once in a while

So after owning a pair of MD's for over a month now. I feel like the highs are way too sharp for me. It's to the point where it hurts a bit. I've also recently bought a pair of Amperior's and I'm not just using those almost exclusively. So with all that said, two questions:

1) What are the differences in sound between MD and Amperior?
2) Anyone else have issues with sharp and/or painful highs with the MD?

I've now owned my Mad Dogs (3.2) for over 3 months.  These headphones keep me up at night.  I'll get into a groove and just can't stop listening to music.  It's gotten worse with the acquisition of the Vali which is a superb pairing.

Just this past holiday I took the Mad Dogs home for my father to demo with the new Vali, and he agreed that some of the recordings he had were represented in such euphoric tones he was tempted to just sit and listen.  He did... he listened for probably 3 hours.  A favorite for me and my family for sure.

That should never be the case.  Please PM me and we'll send you a replacement set, return the old ones when you get the new.
