But the Grado SR-80's are so cool looking. Us slaves to fashion prefer cool to comfort anyday! Yes, there is something to be said for comfort...I need some comfort...comfort me...wrap me in JVC or Beyer or Sony! My JVC's are on the way...

the rx700 are burning in very well. the bass is smooth and very powerful when amped and eq'd a little. the bass hits harder than an a900 but at a higher note. the mids are better and warmer than the a900. i am loving these and now want to try to rx900!

Do the 700s have the baffle inside? I haven't had mine apart, but on the back of the package they show the baffle.
It looks to be two plates with holes offset a few degrees. It might be interesting to tinker with that.

I took the headphones apart when, I added some foam. There are two outer shells, one in just a cover with a small piece of foam in the center. One is part of the actual enclosure it had three very thin curved ports. I was thinking of widening the ports. I can say with the outer cover off the headphones are a little less bassy

Are the RX700 and RX900 discontinued models? I don't see either of those on the JVC website.

One thing I will have to mod on my RX900 is the cord length, as it's nearly 12' long. I need to shorten it to 6', then make an extension cord from the remainder. The cord is better quality than on any of my other phones, even the Denons.

Wife-Fi: My wife loves the new RX900s and wants her own pair. Her opinion is the RX900 is waaay better than the Denon D1001s. My opinion at this point is completely undecided. I like them both.

Very cool, nice find. It's refreshing to hear about inexpensive headphones that compare to higher end products. I was already happy to order the SoundMagic PL-30's for $20, but to have a full-size at a similar price that does well is great too. I'm probably going to pick up the 700's because it's hard to say no at $30. I'm looking forward to see in-depth reviews for both the 700's and 900's.

I also wonder how the lower end Harx's are. I see the 300's on Amazon for $11, seems like they would make a great, cheap gift.
