"dare trying a mega-shielded OCC power cord with rhodium-plated pure copper plugs to your ATX PSU if you haven't already"

What do you mean? I have bad experience with shielded interconnects....shielded power is good?

@leeperry I use the Elfidelity PCIE filter in my audio pc. It's hardware has been optimized to the point that you wouldn't think a $35 card would make a positive difference, but it still does (which sucks for me, because I barely have space for it in the build).

I also happily use their USB card in a more general-purpose build. That said, it's nothing compared to the USB XE.

They call it "digitis" and yes, the cure is better clocking & lower PSU ripple. Funnily enough it all ends up being an endless pit and there's always something improving matters, dare trying a mega-shielded OCC power cord with rhodium-plated pure copper plugs to your ATX PSU if you haven't already, you would be surprised

And I recently couldn't pass this board for 10 bucks used, at least it's plenty burned in eh, shall try it on a bored day then: https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32960931187.html
I also have that elfidelity power filter pci card and the sata filter, and 3x fan filters. They're legit.

Uh huh, you guys tried two AXF107's then? I got two spare PCIe slots and apparently manufacturer advises running two.

@OCC7N : do your homework with a store having a favorable return policy just in case, you might just be in for quite a surprise

Isn’t that the card Linus joked/dissed about?

I have not tried it but if it does work Im in for it

Linus can not be trusted when it comes to audio imo.

Atleast the price is not snake oil price. Im gonna buy one!

Totatlly agree that he cannot be trusted when it comes to audio. He already made his decision before he even tested it.

Lol he's listening for hiss as an indicator for noise. Someone should tell him, its not going to affect the coil whine out of the GPU, just like it won't affect his car's engine. Its always funny when they try to step outside of their area of expertise. Ego gets the better of everyone I suppose.

He might as well do sports car reviews.

I guess he's running out of ideas for content, he literally dropped the card on the floor and did some critical listening for about 5 seconds before dismissing it as snake oil.

FWIW my AXF107 seller bought it coz he had nasty groundloops in his USB RME Babyface and it fixed it on the spot, finally sold it coz his new PC doesn't have the issue.

yt clickbaits starve views to generate revenue, pretty pathetic honestly with their video thumbnails exhibiting giant bold claims and internal soundcard + random Grado won't do much good A/B'ing subtle tweaks duh.

Anyhow, hitting on audiophools is easy target and these days most ppl listen to lossy audio via BT -meaning double lossy- so at this rate anyone else easily becomes a gullible audio nerd :p

I can partially undesrstand Linus' approach considering that benchmarks are what he does. His audio reviews provide yet another data point. Some will find that useful, others won't. That's all fine :)

I am testing my disk for sound quality.

JCAT USB XE with the cheapest USB thumbdrive(Foobar200 portable) sounds really good in resolution but does not quite come close to the internal Samsung 980 Pro which has noticeably better placement of instruments and that analog umpf sound I like

Has any of you any luck with finding a thumbdrive that is SLC based memory that can fit - the ports are very close?

If its able to pick up the thumbdrive, it may be able to pick up a 2.5ssd with a usb adapter but then the problem is the power. It would need a clean power source.
