Yes that driver package which includes the ASIO 2.2 driver has the Micro iDSD listed under supported products at the bottom of the web page. Looks like I am going to use the same driver.

Thank you for your patience. You are a tricky lot telling us you paid already   and so putting us under pressure to deliver.

We ran a Crowd-Design project, not Crowd-Funding you know! :p

Shots fired! *cough* kickstarter *cough* indiegogo *cough* :p

Unfortunately I don't really have a place for the micro iDSD in any of my systems, but this was definitely a fun ride to watch! I really respect iFi with the open approach they've taken and delivering an actual product in a timely manner. All without taking any "crowdfunding" money to boot! It really is commendable.

Every time I see another kickstarter campaign, I run the opposite direction. I can see its merits, but personally don't like the premise. When you are using other people's money and when there are minimal (if any) consequences for squandering the money and not delivering on promises, it really is not a good environment for innovation. And to top it off, some of these companies open up additional crowd funding projects, with even wilder claims and promises, even before they have delivered on their original project. (Not naming any names, but I think you all know who I am talking about). I'm glad not a single penny of my money went their way, and not a single penny ever will.

That being said, I'm eagerly awaiting the iDSD mini. I definitely have a place for that piece of kit in my system and have absolutely no qualms with sending my money iFi's way.

So folks, I have been doing my best to read up as many threads on the Micro iDSD but just need to confirm if my understanding is right

I am now currently running Foobar/Mediamonkey on ASUS Xonar Essence STX (PCIe) connected to Akimate Mini (Powered Speakers) and getting itchy for an upgrade.

Would like to have a DAC with integrated headphone amps so I can connect up the DAC to my active speakers and also use it as headphone amps when I can't use my speakers (late at night or when someone is sleeping).

I was initially thinking of getting the iFi iDAC but someone recommended the iFi iDSD Micro .. which explains why I am here ..

so here's the question, hopefully it's not a silly question, if my music collection are mostly MP3s and FLACs and i don't have any DSDs music .. would I still benefit from purchasing the iDSD Micro or should I just stick to iFi iDAC ?

Took a leap of faith and ordered the lat unit (in the 1st batch), Hopefully my MP3s and FLACs will benefit from the iDSD Micro. I gave up a good deal on a 2nd hand iDAC to go for the iDSD Micro.

Like your sense of humour!

Seriously, when customers tell us they paid and pre-ordered, we put ourselves under severe pressure to deliver because we are concerned that we may be tarnished by the same brush. As you have obviously read on other forums, the tide is turning against Crowd-Funding.

We are doing Crowd-Design. We are trying to run with the good bits which is customer-designed without the not-so-good bits.

This difference is not subtle but once people have put their deposit down or paid to pre-order, even though it is a matter of a few weeks, every day that passes makes us sweat. We just dont like that feeling. Not the way we roll.

Then when we decided to up the power output. We could have just got the units out but then our "technology creep" (incurable case of OCT: Obsessive Compulsive Technology) kicked-in.

We thought for the sake of another week (which ended up being a week and a half!), we made the executive decision that it was worth it and you would not mind so long as we were open and transparent about how and why we delayed things. Then we had to chase a few bugs around the block but in the end, we got there. Phew.

You guys may well get your wish on the micro iDSD....though that is not happening quite yet as we have this little guy coming in September.

Remember when we previously hinted, " we were going back in time?...."

We dont see a Head-Fi thread on this puppy....the iFi Retro.

It is a bit different.

On the outside, it satisfies family and friends who demand a normal-looking audio system but on the inside, it satisfies the audio perfectionist who demands the very latest technology.

Just add: Turntable, Smart Device (BT) or Computer!

that looks old school! Was the design inspired by Thorsten's old RFT Radio?
