Grado HP1000 "The legendary Grado"

Hi all, I am afraid to ask this question, but I wanted to know if there are any step by step instructions to take apart an old HP2. My left channel is cutting out, and I am 100% sure it's the contacts between the cable and driver. I wanted to take them apart and re-solder them, which shouldn't be much of an issue, but the part I am worried about is taking them apart.

Does anyone know how to take these apart such that I can access the soldering points? Thanks.
Did you fixed this already?
When you remove the foam pads , you'll see there are 6 Allen screws that keep the speaker driver in place. You only need to unscrew to free the driver. Becareful with the solder and also do not tight the screws when you install the driver back!

Thanks. Figured it out after a little bit. It’s good as new now

Is there a difference in the metal cups? I see some look more shinier than others
Some are "matted" which were the older 1989-1990 I believe and the more "chrome" was post that era (90-92). Sonically if they're both hp-2's they will likely sound similar and the wear on the unit is more critical than anything else.
The same can not be said for hp-1s. The wiring can created some distortion.

Thank you that’s very helpful

It’s weird , the jack has been re-terminated. The switches don’t look right for the hp-1 either but it could be because the button was removed.
Headband and bottom cups look correct but the bottom of the driver (under the screen) is usually black not white.

I think this is maybe a Frankenstein. My guess is it’s hp-1000 parts but not an authentic driver.

I just looked at My Hp1 I have to agree driver looks wrong And the buttons are missing
The HP1 is my go to hp headphone as I also have a HP2 &HP3
Probably A Frankenstein
I actually have a pair of spare HP1 drivers & buttons ,Standard HP1 cable with switches I bought directly from Joe Grado when he lived in New Jersey
Frame & headband look real.

Wow, it’s got the polarity switches but all the lettering is missing which lowers its collectibility value. It seems legit. Who knows what the final price will end up at.

thanks guys!

I had some suspicions looking at it, hence wanted experience eyes to confirm this. Usually whatever seems too good to be true, is exactly that. Much appreciate the quick response. I'll ignore and move on...

much appreciated 🙏

Spare drivers!
That's incredible. One of the best headphones I heard. Very nice.

@goldwerger
I paid for HP1000v2 around $2200 with red lettering intact. mint condition. So, look around $1800 to $2500 for the perfect price.

I REALLY wanted mine..HP1 with perfect lettering. I paid $3,000. Then I bought both the Grado amps for it (HPA-1 and RA-1).

Bliss!
