First Impressions of the new Beyerdynamic T70p

Thank for the review Drew!  Can you comment on the T70p versus the DT1350?  I currently own the DT1350 and enjoy them  for work and I'm patiently waiting for a better close headphone to replace my Denon D5000. Hopefully the T70 will be it.

Thanks!

That is disappointing.  I was hoping for something around the $200-300 range from the Tesla line.

Why would they price them the same as the DT line?  That would be a stupid business decision.  It's likely these are intended to be a new line, to reach for new market in that new price range and performance level, not just a refresh.  That way they keep selling the DT's in the lower price range and sell these as well.   At least until their price comes down after a couple years.

I was hoping for a replacement to the DT line rather than something falling between it and the uber high-end.

570 Dollars, it better be good. I mean if a K240 DF can sound just as 'clear' as a HD800 I am not going to buy that HD800.

Picky with amplifiers, annoying to say the least...

I would not say they are a forward Bright phone but they are also not laid back and lush like an HD650 or LCD-2. I guess it comes down to your sensitivity to HF. Otherwise I would say it makes sense. I find it to be a good at all things phone but not perfect in any one area. They are definitely a very fun headphone if you get my drift.

Thanks for the review, Drew.  I'm actually in the market for my first truly high end cans and the DTs were interesting to me because I love me some bass (some might even call me a basshead), but I'm pretty sensitive to HF and I literally enjoy every genre of music, from dubstep to motown to metal. I like a nice, warm, musical signature, with enough bass to rattle my teeth when I listen to dubstep but musical enough to deal with double-bass drums.  From the reviews, I felt like the DTs would be a little harsh and the recessed mids put me off.

Considering I'm planning to spend around 500 on the cans alone, and I don't have any way of demo'ing them, I'm forced to base my decisions on reviews exactly like this one.  That said...what's the sound signature on these like?  Given what I just said, do you think it's worth me waiting for?  Have I finally found my perfect set of 'phones?

The new T70p has this dampening inside the cup and I have a feeling the outside pad works in a similar fashion....I popped open the cans to take a look at the new drivers and like the T1/T5p they use a much stronger magnet system.

Any internal pics of the driver & the dampened cups?

Poop. Forgot to take that picture. And sent back the phones to Beyer. Will have the 250ohm soon and will take a picture of that. It is basically a foam circular pad that is glued to the back of the cup.
