The T70p & T70 should start rolling into the Beyer USA the 15th and then ship out to dealers. I just received the demo T70 and should have the demo T70p back by weeks end. I will try to do a comparison this wknd.

heard of both finally, from the Hong Kong hifi show.  i mostly listen to t70p because the t70 was using classical music although i was amping it with beyer a1.  decent enough though.  for t70p, i listen to 2 and a half songs and my impression was, i feel like a very good dt770(32ohm 2005 version) with a touch of tesla sound.  not t5p good though.  not open and airy enough.  lighter than a t5p but not isolate as well too.  one more thing, i got to the show early and the beyer guys told me they just got those headphones(both t70 and t70p) so they need some break-in/burn-in(yea there i said it, for those who don't believe in burn-in, shoot me)

Don't have any experience with Beyerdynamics. I listen to both Sennheiser hd600 and hd650 and would prefer a sound somewhere in between these two phones. I've always been interested in buying the 600ohm DT880's, but would the T70 be something I might appreciate (being a fan of Sennhiesers)? Thanks.

Ok so I finally got some time this afternoon to compare the 2 phones. Wish I had more time, as I think they need more burn in. But have to get them to Tyll next so he can review them and hopefully measure. We will see if he agrees with my statements below.
 
So for this audition I used my Luna transformer coupled tube amp, which I also used for the T5p review I did. I find it to be a very neutral sounding amp and good for doing such comparisons. I used the same mix cd I use at all the Headfi meets. It has a variety of music. Acoustic, Classical, Rock, etc etc. A broad range of different passages that I am very familiar with.
 
The first 3 songs I used had a bunch of acoustic guitar in it, to evaluate the presentation and speed of the drivers. I find the 250ohm version to be a little softer around the edges, a tad warmer and smoother. Not by leaps and bounds but definitely there compared to the 32ohm. It is now where near as warm and lush as say an HD650. The 32ohm was a little more forward sounding, not as much as a Grado RS-1 but a tad brighter than the 250ohm and the sound was a bit closer to the head. Maybe even a bit cleaner sounding. I cant say it was more detailed than the 250ohm, but I guess because it was a tad more forward it seemed that way. The 250ohm had a little more depth and the music surrounded my head a bit more.
 
On the next track, a Classical piece, there is a passage of the song that has great bottom end and is very demanding. Both seemed to have about the same low end thump. But because the 250ohm seems to have a bit more depth to the sound it was more dramatic. It was hard to tell if one truly went deeper than the other. The 32ohm was a bit snappier with drum and beat tracks from either rock or electronica. But both are good bottom end phones. Not bloated but controlled bass.
 
Something I feel what the 250ohm model is missing over the 32ohm model is a certain sense of liveliness. I can compare it to what I call a room with speakers that is "hot" sounding. Lots of energy and transients. Which is what caught my ear on the initial T70p review I did. There is something about the 32ohm version that draws me in and gets my blood pumping. It is a funner phone. The 250 is more relaxed. Not too relaxed, but in comparison to the 32ohm model it is a little smoother/softer.  
 
I think if you are more into Jazz, Classical etc. the 250 ohm may appeal more. I did enjoy symbols a bit more on Jazz passages with the 32ohm, but the 250ohm seem to roll with the jazz theme a little nicer.
 
If into Pop, Rock, Electronic, where your heart is pumping, the 32ohm would be more your style. It will be interesting to see what others think on different gear. I'm looking forward to having a pair and have not decided which I want yet....It's tough, they are both good values at the price point. Definitely a good improvement over the DT770.

don't recognize the socket and plugs are not pictured. Can you do something like minixlr? (although for the sake of weight they might not be the lightest ones).
Do people necessarily need to buy a cable upgrade to get the removable cables?

What's the usual wait time on the mods, provided T70p is in stock at the moment of order? (hmph this makes T70 cost about the same as woodied and stax padded T50RP )

The female panel mount mini XLR has too large of a diameter to work in the Beyer phones. There is a clearance issue between it and the driver plate. We can use the connectors in the link or we can use the same connectors used on the HiFiMan headphones. Those are the only 2 options that will work.

Thank you for the comparison. So it is not night and day differences which is great. I am thinking that the 250 might be able to scale higher with different amplifiers?
