FiiO X5 2nd gen Impressions and Discussion thread

How come when I turn on the x5 ago 2 click?

Hi, cirodts
This is the sound of the relay.
The amplifier output of X3 was transit to the headphone port through a electric relay. When turning on/off and plug/unplug headphone, it would momentary disconnect the connection of the relay. At this time, the headphone is disconnected to the inside of X3 so as to avoid any sonic boom or abnormal sound. However, the disconnection of the relay depends on the electrical signal which would generate slight sound.

Hi FiiO,
are the European units power limited, in order to comply with the EU-norm of loudness limited to 85db?

No...

No unit should ever be limited to that, especially as volume is highly connected with the impedance, power and voltage swing.

Has anyone started Fiio X5iii thread yet?

We know it's coming sooner or later, since x1II is here, and if X5iii follows the trend with touch wheel, we should all have a very fun time with it!

I completely agree with you, but the reality is unfortunately different: http://blog.mediamusicnow.co.uk/blog/2015/03/23/eu-commission-control-volume-mp3-players-ipods-other-players/

I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction. I have tried a search on the thread, but my searching skills are not that strong.

I want to use my FiiO X5ii as a digital source in my car system. I have a Helix Pro DSP, and I have a coax cable running from the front of the car directly into the 'coax in' of the DSP.

I have connected the supplied 3.5mm to coax cable, and it works brilliantly. The problem is - the coax cable that I'm using is extremely stiff, and the supplied cable is too short. I need to be able to hold the FiiO in my hand instead of having it beside me connected with the short cable.

So, I'm looking for a longer version of the supplied cable. When I search for 3.5mm coax to female RCA....I don't find anything that matches. In haste before leaving on a trip, I ordered the following cable:

https://www.amazon.com/Micca-SPDIF-Digital-Coaxial-Specifically/dp/B01GOYLMPW/ref=sr_1_83?ie=UTF8&qid=1476491620&sr=8-83&keywords=tinbel+store

Great looking cable - good length - totally wrong. Stereo 3.5mm not like the one that was supplied....and a male RCA end instead of the needed female end to attach to the coax cable that I have running to the DSP.

I need a 1-3 foot length of cable like the supplied:

It does not look too hard to make one.
Use multitester to double check which ones are connected to which end.
buy a 3.5mm tssr male plug and a rca make plug.
Get some good mono cable and solder.

But if you do not want to do soldering, then just buy tssr extension cable and extend your fiio cable.

I really appreciate the reply. I purchased that extender cable until I get another made. That is a great suggestion that I didn't think of, and I have a some friends that are very good at making cable. I'll likely use the one that I originally purchased, but put the correct ends on it.
