Hi James,

Could the next firmware fix the problem of having to reset the sleep timer setting each time the FiiO M3 is turned on?

Many users would like the sleep timer to remain at a set value without having to reset it each day. The volume setting, for example, can be set once and remain there without needing to be reset, so it would seem that it could be done for the sleep timer too.

 谢谢

Pete

Pete,

We just got one same suggestion as you today, and we will take it into consideration. so sorry for any inconvenience that brought for you.

@JamesFiiO

Thanks James,

I appreciate the considerate reply, and I do really like the FiiO M3. It does many things well, and I only have two problems with it: 1. The sleep timer, which I think FiiO can fix in a later firmware update, and 2. The fact that new songs are not listed alphabetically, but only in order of subsequent addition, or otherwise seemingly at random. Perhaps that can't be fixed, but it's a pity about an otherwise excellent DAP that is very good value for money.

was going through this thread and noticed quite a few people pairing the M3 with a portable amp.  Since the M3 doesn't have a line out, isn't this double amping?  Are people not noticing any distortions?  I'd love to get a bit more power for the M3, but I'm not seeing any real options.

I have tried amping mine through my Vali 2 amp and I have to say the quality is pretty good and the double amping doesn't appear to be a major issue.

Hi.

Gearing up for a Cycle Touring Trip (months, not weeks) and looking for a small, lightweight mobile (obviously) rig.

The M3 is a very obvious choice....perhaps the X3 2nd gen??

Anyways, I see that Penon has the HiFiMAN RE-400 @ 25% down making it $59.00
Is this a nice paring with the M3? - anyone using this combination care to comment?

No Amp....just want a small, light player and "good" IEM's that wont make me cry if I lose them, break them or they get stolen :)

Thanks if you can help me out.
Cheers.

I use the M3 and the MEE M6 Pro while cycling...absolutely love the combo.

The M6 Pro is only $50, but what I find best about them is the form factor....due to their design, they simply stay put. I never feel the need to fiddle with them or experience any kind of discomfort while cycling

Hey - thanks for the reply.

I should have been more specific in my post :)

I wont ride and listen to music at the same time...I find that a bit dangerous TBH.
Camping out at night, I'll just want my Tunes or Podcasts to relax with.

OK - I'll look into the M6 Pro.

Thanks again!

Pete,The tracks are sorted by track number under an album. But currently there's bug with the sorting. We will try our best to fix it in the
 following firmware.

Yes, there's no problem, as you say James, with the way tracks are listed within albums, but if FiiO could fix the way the M3 sorts artist folders, and could make them alphabetical rather than in order of when they were loaded onto the device, that would be a great improvement to a wonderful, powerful little DAP. Looking forward to firmware 1.8, and best wishes for business in the future!

What's sad about it?  To meet a price point, sometimes you have to make choices.  If it doesn't suit you - don't buy it.. Pretty simple really.

And the latest Sansas have the same limits.  Are they sad too?

Responding to this belatedly concerning limitations of later DAPs, including the FiiO (perhaps much has happened since then), yes, the latest SanDisk Sansa players--the Sport and Jam--also are sad with regard to their microprocessor limitations, similar to the FiiO.  And while I understand the price point limitations, technology typically gets less expensive over time, not more expensive--the SanDisk Clip line first came out just under 9 years ago . . . .  Is there no cost-effective alternative to the microprocessor, since seemingly discontinued, used in the original Clip line, let alone one that is improved?

Thank you ,we think many of our users may want the tracks to be sorted by track no. But we will take it into consideration.

I see I have not made myself entirely clear. I agree that many, indeed all, users, myself included, would want tracks within albums to be sorted by track no. But I was not talking about that. I am referring to the folder view problem. Specifically, when a new artist folder is added to the FiiO M3, that artist folder is not placed alphabetically in the folder menu, and this will be a problem for anybody using the folder view.

The attached photo shows what I mean. This is the M3 folder view, showing artist folders. Inside each artist folder, the user will find albums. Inside those album folders, the tracks will be listed by track numbers, i.e. in the order that the album artist intended the tracks to be played. The top-level folder view, however, shown in the photo, is where the problem lies. Note that the following artists are in alphabetical order: Tom Waits; Tommy Smith; Van Morrison; William Wordsworth; and Yes. However, you can see that the artist America is very much in the wrong place, and Wilson Pickett is also in the wrong place. America and Wilson Pickett were added at a later date than the others, and the FiiO M3 does not currently have a helpful way to put newly added artists in their correct alphabetical place within the folder view. I'm afraid that simply stopping using the folder view and using the artist view instead is not a workable solution for many users, as it presents its own problems. For example, if a user has any compilation CDs with many different artists, that would make the artist view much harder to manage than the folder view.

I hope this explanation helps illustrate the problem to which I refer. The FiiO M3 is a great little DAP and deserves continued success, but if this folder view problem could be solved, it would be even better!

Best wishes,

Pete

we see, but we are afraid that due to the limit from the chip solutions, the M3 can only display the files in the order of when they are
added in the folder menu.

And so, the only solution to this is to use a software application such as FAT Sorter (freeware) which will re-do the player's FAT listing, so that the player displays an alpha order; used from your PC on the player after you add files to it.  http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/File-Management/FAT-Sorter.shtml (note:  use the Softpedia download link option--the alternative External mirror download link did not work for me when I tried it just now).  While it's a shame that the player does not take care of this automatically, especially at this point in time, at least the program is easy.

If anyone finds a Mac GUI app that can do this, please let me know!
