DUNU DN-2000J -- More Than Evolution?

Dopaminer is right; I'm mostly thinking about the K3003, especially since tomscy2000 partly has compared the 2000J with the K3003. Other phones in the $1000 class that come to mind (not because they share similarity with the 2000J, but because they're all approx. $1000) are the Shure SE846, FitEar ToGo 334, Sennheiser IE800, etc. I believe Westone has a $1000 phone as well? I'm sure there's a complete list somewhere!?

Great info. Looks like these Dunu DN2K phones are amazing value for the bucks. I wonder how they'd stack up in comparison to the A83.

I can tell you the DN-2000 series (and more than likely DN-2000J) give the A83 a bit of beating when it comes to soundstage (width) though I'll still take the A83 for it's more aggressive mid-range detail. The Dunu (2000) is a little too soft or smooth for me to say I'd take it over my A83. But in a nutshell they're both excellent hybrids.

Thanks, H20. As a mids fan, your post is valuable. I'll sure to check out the DN2000Js performance in this regard. Can't wait.

Gracias!

Yup. The W60.

I hope Dunu would also consider putting this in Massdrop like the Titan 1. It will certainly help garner advertising and feedback. Case in point, when the Titans arrive at the Massdrop customers this week, I'm positive we'll definitely see some good impressions circulating here.

And yep, now that the Chinese Lunar New Year is starting to subside, hope we'll receive word about the ETA on these.

Impressions of the dn2000j with comparisons on erji.net

http://www.erji.net/read.php?tid=1776809

Says the dn2000j is very spacious and effortless. The ER4S is cleaner and has a bigger more 3D soundstage, whereas the dn2000j's, while very big, is slightly smaller, and loses on that "3D" aspect. He finds the ER4S has to strain at times; the dn2000j never does.

With a better source, the dn2000j has a sound that fills out and gets richer; whereas the ER4S does not scale up as much.

Compared to non-J, the newer model is more spacious, transparent and resolving. But the J is very sensitive to source- his feedback is to increase its impedance; currently, it's at 8 ohms.

I`m about to chop up my DN2K and re-cable them to run balanced out of my AK, and wondering if they will harden/sharpen up a little as a result.   And yes I do realize that now that I have planted that seed in my mind, it is exactly what I will hear.

Good.

That's weird. He must have sprinkled magic dust on his Etys since those are known to have some of the narrowest (most reviews call it 'intimate') soundstage in the IEM world.

Nevertheless, thanks for sharing, Jelt.

Pretty sure that Cowon IEM is just a T-Peos rebrand, not sure which one, looks like a H-100 housings.

I wonder if these impressions were made with the final final version of the DN-2000J; they were about to send a unit over to me right before the CNY break to listen, but decided last minute to make additional revisions.

The second one was published yesterday, and the OP had done 200+ hours of burn in on it.

That being said, it seems Dunu let them publish what they thought anyway...
