Well the X1 looks same size as DX50. So I would rather upgrade to DX50 rather buying another entry level DAP. C3 with brainwaz doesnt look bulky. What you use to tie them together?

DX50 is larger and a bit thicker than X1 but it's still comfortable to hold. You can use rubber band or a velcro

This is a very general question, but is the Colorfly C3 still a good buy? It seems to fit what I am looking for in terms of price, size and sound signature. Or would I be better off waiting to see what Colorfly will release next or looking at other options?

Yes it is, for sure. It does have it's competition, but if you can put up with it's too simple UI the sound(and that's what matters most here, right?) is great. And the C3 is a beast, a truck could roll over it and you wouldn't even notice. The C3 exudes quality, and that goes a long way for me. It's only real flaw is the company putting it out as they don't support it very well. It needs a firmware update but will probably never get it, and that's just wrong. Still, as it sits, it's got chops, so don't discount it just yet.

Sure it is. I still use C3 daily. If you've read about it on this thread you already know its shortcomings like lack of eq aside from the presets, folder-only playback, no playlists etc. Otherwise,it's a great sounding little DAP.

Picked up this Cowon O2 using it most of today. Tell you what, of all the Cowons I've heard this one comes closest to C3.

Actually passes it in a few areas like soundstage width.

press and hold the reset button, which is next to the jack - you'll need a pin. If it doesn't turn on try pressing and holding the power button afterwards or connecting it to the charger again. So in short:
If the battery is fully discharged 1)try the power button and connecting the c3 to a charger; If that doesn't work 2) press the reset button with a pin and hold for a few seconds - it should turn on by one of the two things mentioned in 1)

Good option. The X1 takes care of your low bass scenario and has a nice UI to boot. It's also got a good EQ to help shape the sound. Sound wise, I like 'em both, the UI is what makes me use the X1 more, though.

I have an IEM assigned to each.

Fidue A83 for C3
T-Peos H-300 for X1

They both get decent airtime.

Hi,

Do you use the a83 amped on c3?
I have the c3 amped with C&C BH and I am looking for a pair of iems.

Dunu 1000, 2000, fidue a83, Altone 200.

Hi there,

I use A83 unamped from C3.

All four are good choices, I think A83 has the edge over the others if you can stretch the extra distance for cash, with Altone200 not far behind. You can't go wrong with any though, they're all high on my recommendation list.

Maybe. I think the Dunu 1000 are the best bang for bug but, for me, going to an iem over 150 euro with no replaceable cables is a waste of money. The cables are really a plus.

To this list I forgot to add the ath im02 altough it is not and hybrid. It is just a double BA.
