I read the whole topic. You are an excellent representative of the company. As an example to everyone. About the player. In vain Cayin did not give open source codes to modders. Mods for ibasso dx50 have made the player popular. Dx50 is even now relevant because of amateur firmware and mods. I strongly advise you to study this topic.) On the whole, you are great.

In the meantime, I made a mod for the player. I was rooting the device. Deleted android music libraries and disabled additional music system files. There is less bass, but the stage has improved, the scale of the sound, and the detail has improved. SOUND is not recognizable - for the better. Andy, I think I understand why you were against root and player mods.

IMO Cayin realized they made a far better player than it was priced in the market. So they basically killed the i5 by not fixing or improving the half-finished software after 6 months. Then they further crippled it by denying easy modding access.

I'll never purchase anything from them again.

Could be worse. An audiophile must suffer! Almost all Chinese players are not perfect. Colorfly hasn't supported their models for more than 2-3 months.

I have checked my Google Drive, all the i5 firmware was still there, but Google Drive has changed their privacy policy, so all previous links are not working. I went through each link and removed the Google update. The link should be working again, and I have copied all the i5 firmware link here for the convenient of our users.

The v1.1 was released before we implemented the Google Play on i5, so only China version is available, I won't bother to copy the link here.

The Cayin web server is a bit of disaster right now. Our web service provider didn't survive the COVID strike and wend out of business, there is literally no transition before they disappear and we lost a lot of files on our website. We can add new pages to our website through the content generator, so theoretically we can re-build the lost pages, but that proved to be too much work for a web site that we don't have all the necessary back end privilege, so we decided to hire a new service provider and build a new site.

Once again, I apology for the imperfect of i5 DAP. We did try our best to deliver a good quality DAP to our customers, but we failed to complete some features that are importer to some users.

The i5 was debut at our China press conference on 23 April 2016 and then launched at the Munich High End Show 2016 (5-8 May 2016) , it was the first Google Play preinstalled Android DAP that break the $500 bracket. The i5 was based on the LC1813 CPU from Leadcore Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Datang Telecom (DTT), a Chinese listed company based in Beijing. The DTT is a subsidiary of state-owned "China Academy of Telecommunications Technology" (CATT), so we assume the Leadcore was a safe partner at that point. Unfortunately, Leadcore decided to terminated the ARM-based Android CPU line and focused on G3/G4 CPU market and we started to receive zero support from LeadCore since late 2016. By May 2017, Datang Telecom (DTT) announced a major collaboration project with Qualcomm and they used LeadCore as the mean to start a new JV company JLQ Technology (瓴盛科技) with Qualcomm (HERE). I had explained our situation to i5 users (HERE) on roughly the same time. Cayin suffered badly from Leadcore's new business move but our explanation was not accepted by some users, and they have developed all sorts of conspiracy theory to blame Cayin for deserting their customers.

If you have hard feeling to Cayin because of i5, I apology once again, and urged you to forget about Cayin completely and enjoy your music journey with whatever product that will bring peace, joy and appreciation. It doesn't necessarily be Cayin. Life is short, enjoy your music while you can.

Cayin didn't own the complete source code and copyright of the software. HiBy is our solution provide for i5, and they own the majority coding and library. We have to get consent from HiBy if we want to share the source codes to modders. Given the software is the bread and butter of HiBy and they used some of the routines across many DAP platform, I don't think we can make this happen.
