Spike, you're simultaneously praising the DT931 and selling a few days old pair. Don't you think that might look a little disturbing?

Damn, a local store is selling those for 109 Euro (instead of 199). You're making me think about spending unnecessary money although I'm sooo happy with my DT531

I haven't heard the DT531, but from everything I've read they don't share too much in common with the DT931. Everyone calls the DT531 the groovilizer, while I would call the DT931 the analyzer. It's not that it can't be musical but it doesn't have that smooth sound I would equate with grooving. To me it is fast, accurate and resolving beyond its price tag. But at under $200 you're not going to have everything.

Funnily enough, my very first 'decent' cans were the BeyerDynamic DT311... seems that i've returned 'home'

I just got a vintage original 1980's version of the DT880! 600 Ohm monsters took down 2 9v rechargables on my PIMETA in a mere 45 minutes

So...the sound. First, an aside. Anyone here experience what Alessandros with flat pads can do for live music? From mid-bass on down, the impact and control is incredibly engaging.

Turns out the DT880 serves as the perfect counterpart! Paired up with AD8620 op-amps, mid-highs on up absolutely melt into my ears on the right recording. I especially can't get enough of live acoustic guitar on these. It's like I'm in the resonating chamber. In a good way.

Also worth noting, I've never heard more convincing reproduction of piano on headphones or speakers alike. I need to get more recordings that can properly showcase this.

These are just my first few hours impressions

And I love my DT880's.

I was wondering the same thing.... Their signature is similar but IMHO the 200-900Hz recession is more extreme with the 770.

DT770 Pro 80-ohm version!!! I love these things. Isolation and soundstage are great for gaming. Better than my AudioTechnica ATH-AD7s for gaming and rock.

New to head-fi, and with my first post I'd like to declare my love for my DT531s (ooh I hope my GF isn't watching...)

I was lucky enough to get one of the last DT531s to reach the southern land.

Can I be on team Beyer Love/Hate? I have some 770-80 Pros, and sometimes I love 'em, sometimes I hate 'em. Sooo comfy, sooo sturdy, soooooo much lovely, lovely bass & such a nice soundstage. But also soooo much treble (ouch!) and soooo few mids. Just a very extreme phone...sometimes I love listening to them, but sometimes I just miss vocals too damn much.
