How's the soundstage, separation, and detail retrieval on the closed-back version?

So we have two duds in the half dozen or so that have received them so far...not a great batting average.

I was also unaware of the significant variations in sound from one pair to another - doesn't sound like an outfit ready for the big leagues.

I might still give them a listen but what I once thought might be my next and last headphone continues to shoot itself in the foot.

This is the very definition of a rush to judgment.

I thought this was pretty well known? Two Audezes side by side that are the supposed to be the same model and revision can sound very different.

Hello elwappo99, we match our drivers to within +/- 1db in the production process at Audeze and as far as we're aware, two matching, new headphones will sound the same. This isn't one of the issues we've been made aware of and we're good at listening to our customers. Further, if the headphones are sent in for a driver failure, rarely seen on LCD series 'phones these days, we replace both drivers so they too are tightly matched. We make no special tweaks for reviewers and present our products as they are for consideration.
Thanks,
Audeze

Hello Bill, high-technology roll-outs can be somewhat fraught, especially given the robbery that put us on our back foot for a week or so. We've carefully examined the failed EL-8s and found a soldering fault. It's been corrected in production so no one who buys a pair will face that issue.
Thank you,
Audeze

Just wanted to announce that we've just published full EL-8 Open-back review (probably first in the world!) at http://zakupek.pl/test/sluchawki/recenzja-audeze-el-8-open-back/ . It's available in Polish, but it should be still understandable via Google Translate. Enjoy! :)

I would like to know what people think of this too, particularly the soundstage part!
