Android phones and USB DACs

But the E17 only works when using the usb audio recorder app, whilst the D-zero works like it should.

On another note, yes I was quite surprised to see that little otg cable in the ibasso package. They really need to update their website as that cable isn't listed and hence I bought a much longer separate cable to use with the D-zero that's now collecting dust.

Hi,
I emailed Audinst via eBay re using the HUD-MX1 with my Samsung 10.1 Note and received this reply:

' Hello.

We confirmed that the HUD-mx1 didn't work on Samsung Galaxy S3 with Jelly bean.
Even if we use the USB HUB with power supply and OTG cable, didn't work properly.
Therefore, we suspect that it may not work the tablet with Android operating sytem of the lastest. '

I quite liked the look of their MX1 but it seems it does not work - unfortunately.

Thanks for passing this info on. Real shame as the MX1 looked to be the best budget option to power my Senn HD 580's.

Cynicalmushroom and Haojan thanks for the responses!

I bought the E07k and can report that it is working on my Note 2. I am not stock though, I am running "Cleanrom V1" (Verizon Base) and the Perseus Kernel (v30.1)

I've got the short micro b to mini b otg cable on order but hooked it up with the supplied usb cable and a standard otg cable. I think I'll look into the 3M duo lock because the rubber bands aren't cutting it. The E07k is smaller than I thought it it would be. I have to say it works pretty well. I will give it a few days run to see if it works out.

Edit: Also works on my wife's Note 2 running Beans V5 rom along with v28.1 Perseus Kernel.

Breadvan, Cleanrom is pretty close to stock except with all the bloat removed. I don't think you would have any trouble stock I just thought I'd mention that I'm not. I have seen some people that have had success on the Note 2 and I believe as long as you have the correct cable you are good to go but I am seeing some people having issues so I'm not sure. . It would take a while to get back to full stock and having unlocked my bootloader (Verizon) I don't see myself going back at this point but if I do, I'll report back.

Edit: I am seeing that others are having issues beyond just the cable. Im not sure why but I have effectively used 2 separate phones with 2 diff roms and it is working in both. Hmm

I'm pretty sure that the shortest OTG cable atm that is sold separately is this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/mini-USB-OTG-Host-cable-lead-Archos-Home-Tablet-7-/251200043364?_trksid=p2047675.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D4822487411403102221%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D261127669335%26
All the other tiny cables comes with the dac, such as the iBasso D-zero and xDuoo XP-1

Thanks a lot, have you tried 24/96 material on the 07K? I have quite a few of those albums from HDTracks so it would be great to be able to play them on the road. Cheers.

There are straight cable and also three-way cables that add a charging plug.

Here is a super-short straight one I tested as OK:

And here are three each of the three-way cables that also tested OK for me:

This one is more expensive but it's in the USA and arrived in just a couple days to my address in the USA:

These two are in China and took 2-3 weeks to arrive to my house in the USA:

i tried a similar cable from Amazon, and it works fine in that it allows my T-Mobile s3 to connect to the headstreamer, but the charge indicator did not indicate charging when i connected an external battery .  unlike my other otg cable, though, this one allowed me to use my Audioquest Carbon USB cable - which does not make contact with the non-charging otg cable - little annoyances keep popping up
