AEON, MrSpeakers' New Closed Back Planar Magnetic Headphone
Feb 9, 2017 at 6:09 AM Post #361 of 5,483
Same here, shipping is now over $86. Luckily the Australian retailer is already advertising the Aeon for A$1,199.00. If I was to get the "discounted" unit from MrSpeakers it would cost me more than full price in Australia for the local retailer because of shipping, GST 10% and import duty.

A2A don't know when they are getting stock so I'll wait until they do.

Hey guys, I appreciate the encouragement. Reviews have gotten to be a challenge for me over the past year with family life needing to take precedence. But when I come across something this good, the need to get the word out is strong. Please feel free to ask questions and I'll do my best.

I know nothing about an open back version, so I have no information to share there. I do have a few random pictures that I can post but bear in mind that they are poor quality and poor camera work (and not production but beta).

An open-version Aeon will likely sound similar to a closed-aeon except it will probably have slightly less sub-bass and sligthly more upper-treble (which then gives it a slightyl more spacious sound).
It's possible the treble will be even more balanced overall.

How long is the cable that follows with the Aeon?

Have anyone tried wearing glasses with these, how is comfort then? And is the sound affected much?

I live in Denmark and I would pre-order these Aeons if it was not for: 80 USD shipping costs (jesus) + like 25% tax and 12% duty.. makes the headphone cost me like 1100 usd...so I have to wait till it gets to EU retailers... :<

Been to Denmark in 2011.Love your life style, the very healthy food and how friendly people are in general.

Nice review  @MattTCG, I like how you rank tonality into your rating and was your 2nd consideration after comfort.

a few questions:
the on sale models for $699 (vs $799) on his site:
are these to have the actual finished product ie matching drivers
or still to be tweaked slightly?
just read all sales final, not returns/exchanges.

also will be interesting to read of more comparisons
once they come out against other closed cans.
under $1g is the price point i'm most seeking.
sure i'd love to buy $2k, but have to buy used
esp with crap cdn dollar being 32% lower.

just hope they punch well above their price point.

That's better, now that we have photos:) they seem to be very light and very comfortable.
Are the pads same as Ether C Flow?

There's a picture in my review showing the pads side by side. They're very different.

I demand a single piece case made from aluminum billet

Just out of curiosity, how would such a thing open/close?

Obviously the driver would be billet too.  Imagine the rigidity!

Blow torch?

Don't think the TSA would let me carry a blow torch on a flight...
Won't be able to use the Aeon as my on-flight headphones!

Pass!
