I would like to sign up but I do not need the dac and amp, that might be packaged with this tour.
There are two of my reviews linked to my signature.

Super HD650 or not?

I found an HD650 FS on the forum just in time before I have to pass this on Tuesday. However, it is modded and practically new and probably not burned in. So far and from plugging it in would have to say it belongs here... it just does. The Vali... well... it is making me upset because I spent all of my money and am too broke to afford it.

My trafomatic is one of those amps that will show a good amount of scalability on the HD650(from comparing it to the Teton at a meet). One thing about the HD650 is that it has a lot of inner details. The micro dynamics are great and the decay isn't too long on the notes so details don't get masked unless the midbass is mixed in excess so it punches high in price to performance. It and the HiFiMan He-4 are really great headphones for sobering the high-minded audiophile. Overall, it has one of my favorite balances of any headphone so I must say I have some bias and even though the Vali costs more and is supposed to be of a higher tier, it has it's work cut out for it.

The Vali actually sounds really good on this amp as well when it is warmed up and the right impedance is selected so I think I can make a fair comparison.

Vali is wayyyy more dynamic and crisp with transients, has better space, tighter bass, similar mid bass but sounds a little less open at first and right now (not soundstage size but lack of reverberations from the cups). Vali midrange is even richer.  The real test will be vocals.
BTW @nmatheis
Now is your chance to hear the HD650.

I'm ready!

I don't think they will be to you at that time so you should be fine I will add your name for logistical purposes and if you pull out no worries. Ideally if you got them after @Soundsgoodtome you would be the last person in Seattle to have them then they can ship out. The Cayin stack will most likely continue on a separate tour after you hear it. @Andykong will help with shipping for all others that sign up for that tour in a separate thread.

@Jimkrell Just took these off of my hands. He will have a week and then pass it on. Please plan to have the items move on the 7th day to avoid delay on it going to Seattle.

looking forward to impressions.

Looking forward to some extended listening sessions! I'll compare this gear with my Schiit Mjolnir, HE-6 (which I just received today!), E-MU Teak, TH-X00, and ZMF Omni.

Thanks to Grizzly for thinking of me!

Doing it geographically was a bit tuff. Especially since @raybone0566
signed up as soon as it was up I felt it a bit unfair. I don't mind the order changing if anyone wants it to. The sign up is not locked either. a couple more spots will fill it all the way up. Also... The CAYIN iHA-6 and CAYIN iDAC-6 is being considered as gear to add to the tour but we don't want to impose more shipping fees on the signees. if everyone on the list so far agrees it can happen! I think it may have to be unanimous for @Andykong
to go for it.

FWIW HE Likes the Vali with the iHA-6 as did I.

I want to thank grizzlybeast and nmatheis sincerely for including Cayin iDAC-6/iHA-6 in the NW tour of Kennerton Vali. This is quite an unexpected but exciting arrangement and I would to share this in more detail with fellow Vali tour participants.

The story actually started at Munich High end Show where I met Mr Valentin Kazanzhi (Kennerton Audio) and Mr. Pierre Paya (Casques Headphone), we have a lot of exchanges during the show and we are looking forwards to future cooperation if we happen to join the same shows/exhibition.

I have borrowed Odin and Vali and try them out with Cayin’s amplifier briefly, it is interesting to notice that the Odin sounds very good with our HA1Amk2 tube headphone amplifier, but the Vali prefer the solid state iHA-6, and the different is quite obvious. In past experience, I prefer HA1Amk2 over iHA-6 most of the time, so Vali sounds better with iHA-6 suggested that there is some synergy advantage between iHA-6 and Vali to certain extend.

When I back home after the Munich trip, I read grizzlybeast’s review on Cayin iDAC-6/iHA-6 and noticed that Kennerton Vali is featured as one of the best matching headphone to the combo, and the statement has confirmed again in his Vali review. I was enlighten by his reviews and come out with this idea to bundle iDAC-6/iHA-6 with Vali during the tour. After considering the extra logistic cost involved and feasibilities of various options, we have decide to execute this plan for Portland and Seattle part of the Vali tour only, and once again we need to thank nmatheis for taking the responsibility to bring the stack from Portland to Seattle in due course.

I have talked to Mr Valentin Kazanzhi about this arrangement and he supported the plan immediately. Mr. Kazanzhi also commented that how the Cayin DAP he received from the product swap has impressed him when demo his headphone/earphone in various occasion. Mr. Kazanzhi even proposed to conduct similar bundled tour in Europe later on, I am glad that we are on the same page on the this arrangement.

Anyway, the tour has now kick started, I am glad that the Cayin combo will be in good hands of Portland and Seattle friends in next two months, and I shall plan the iDAC-6/iHA-6 tour after the Seattle auditions. I am truly interested in the Kennerton headphones, to the level that I have bought a pair of Odin for my personal use, and if the users feedback on this pairing are favorable, I’ll recommend Cayin to adopt Vali as a reference demo headphone for the iDAC-6/iHA-6 in subsequent shows and events, therefore I am looking forward to read the Vali impression from this tour. :beerchug:

My impressions of this gear are starting to take shape. The Kennerton are very nice headphones, not radically different from my ZMF Omni Blackwood in overall signature. That is to say, these extract a very nice amount of detail, but are surprisingly smooth and not at all bright or brittle-sounding. They are also extremely efficient, and work quite well on my Onkyo DP-X1 portable DAP. This was a most pleasant surprise, as I tend to listen in different parts of the house via this or another DAP, and it is wonderful to get such excellent sound from a DAP in my pocket!

The overall sig is smooth, balanced, with very tight and well-defined bass and a more polite treble than I was expecting. For some reason, I thought these would sound a bit hotter and brighter than they do, so this is closer to my preferences than I would have thought. Again, the Omni comes to mind due to its overall smoothness and musicality across a the spectrum and also across musical genres. I still prefer my Omnis, though, as the Omni's midrange is a bit more lush and juicy, and with more overall detail in the bass and continuing up into the treble. I continue to enjoy the fine balance of detail and lack of fatigue that the Omni has achieved, and that seems to be so difficult to find (at least, to my ears!). The Omnis need much more power, however, so the DAP listening experience is less compelling without an outboard amp.

Comparing to my Fostex TH-X00, the sound is more neutral and balanced, particularly with the Fostex's more V-shaped, "fun" signature. The Vali's treble is smoother and is far from harsh, where the X00 can sometimes be a bit sharp to my ears, although it is still very enjoyable overall. Different categories and prices of headphones, to be sure, and they do sound quite different. The X00 sometimes sounds more detailed than the Vali due to its hotter treble, and with good recordings this is fine. If the music is bright, though, the X00 only calls attention to this. The Vali does not shy away from such material.

I listened to Seal's first album start to finish with both the Vali and my newly-acquired HE-6 (modded), and while I am still getting used to these, they are a world apart. The bass of the Hifiman is spectacular, but not only in quantity. I have heard textures among the different types of basses played by a variety of artists now, textures, which no other headohones have revealed to me before. I'm not qualified to give grandiose impressions of the HE-6 yet, but with a great amp, these are spectacular, and the fine detail cues are present in every part of the spectrum. Going back to the Vali, the finest details are a bit more rolled off, but the experience is still very pleasant and engaging. Other music that has been a part of this back and forth includes Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson, Rush (24/96 FLAC for all of these), Chick Corea, Toy Matinee, Norah Jones, and others. Amplifiers used are the Schiit Mjolnir (first gen) and Cayin IHA-6. The Cayin is a particularly nice mesh with the Vali, since the Cayin is extremely detailed, and has a bit more brilliance than my Mjolnir, which makes it blend nicely with the slightly darker Vali.

The build quality of the Vali is high-quality, and there is a bit of a steam-punk vibe about the industrial looking metal parts combined with the wood cups. This is a pretty heavy headphone, and the pads could be a bit softer, but it is not an uncomfortable combination overall.

This is my first time reviewing gear, so please forgive the wandering commentary through this. I'll try to tighten up my writing and opinions and add my thoughts on the Cayin gear later.

Yeah, they do quite well from a DAP! I don't have as many as you do - just a DP-X1, and a couple of Fiio X5s, first and second gen. Which ones do you have? I might be convinced to part with my Onkyo for a short time, but I just got it and use it quite a bit.
