My Cayin i5 with headphones Dunu 2000j (8 Om) and Focal Spirit Professional (32 Om) is playing great, the noise is within tolerance.

From the obvious shortcomings noticed:
- Search (magnifying glass) is only possible for the title song. Search by album or artist does not occur.
- When listening through a DLNA server (J.River 22 version, 24-bit DAC PCM) is not working option "download" folder in CayinDownload
- Many small defects Localization into Russian. (I am from Moscow)
- Several owners, and including myself, have noticed not entirely smooth ride volume wheel, every 15-20 divisions, it tends to slow down (become heavier) or to accelerate. Maybe he has an easy "eight".

@Andykong
I partly overcome the DSD file crashing and I found the cause to be cover art.
Now the DSD files do not have any picture in them at all and plays as normal.

I found the following will cause DSD file playback to crash on the player for my case.
1. Embedded cover art or if album folder contains a picture file folder.jpg (These pictures are not big and I tried 200x200 pixel size and still cause crash)

2. Whenever I switch to VU meter viewing. Previously I already observed that VU meter does not move at all for DSD files. It showed normal for FLAC.

Sorry for the quality of photo, they are snap shot from mobile phone at factory floor.

The replacement work is fairly simple, but be reminded that you need to buy the battery and the carbon fiber back plate when you change the battery, the back plate is glued to the player, so there is 90% chance that you will break it while open up the player.

Thank you again, that will do nicely. Of course it would be even nicer if the back plate was screwed on but at least it possible to open up the case the frog hits the fan...

We are working on the UI refinement for Japan, Korea and Russia through our authorized dealer in respective countries. Hopefully we can deliver a better UI for your location very soon.

The volume knob is quite "heavy" and that's purposely designed like that, but it shouldn't become heavier as you turn. I have tried to turn from 0 to 100 with my i5 and it is fairly smooth in my sample unit. The Volume contorl function of i5 is governed by the PGA2311 volume chip, this a digitally controlled analog volume and the volume knob is in fact a rotary encoder, it is similar but doesn't work like a physical volume control. For example, when you turn the volume knob for 1 round (360 degree), the volume reading might change from 16 steps to 24 steps, depends how fast you turn or how tight you pressurize the volume knob. You don't always get the same step number when you turn the volume knob certain degree because the encoder will "register" the movement and "decode" as increase and decrease command. You can call it imprecise from mechanical point of view, and will tends to over-pressurize the volume knob in order to achieve the same number. My suggestion is to let go and turn it casually, the deal breaker is whether you can control the volume reading accurately.

I am not sure about the not working part of your questions, do you mean you can't download the file through DLNA? or the file will always download to Cayin Download folder?

This is very interesting.

(2) is a know bug in v1.5, if I haven't warn everyone about this in advance, I apology. A user in Hong Kong has spotted this problem and raise it in a Hong Kong audio forum just before the HK Audio Visual Show, we are working on this problem right now, so this should be a common problem to all v1.5 installation.

(1) the interesting part, I have DSD64 and SACD-ISO in my collections, and I used 1000 x 1000 album art, named as Folder.jpg as well, but they works fine in my i5, I can display the album art, and i5 can play them alright. So it is very strange that the album art will cause the player to crash in your case. Nevertheless this is very helpful information, and it might provide some insight to the software debugging process. We shall explore the system from this perspective, please keep me informed if there is any change.

On a different subject dignis decided not to reply on my enquiry whether they intend to make a case for the i5.
I am still awaiting my OEM leather case although it had been posted from Hongkong already 6 days ago.
Hopefully will receive it by tomorrow. Seems 2016 postal services have switchd back to delivery by donkey carts...
There is no plausible reason why an item from HKG is not delivered in Singapore within 3 days.

It usually takes at least a week if it is normal international post. EMS probably will be 3 days.

There is an alternative custom case called A6 EASECASE. It is listed on both taobao and Ebay. It is made to order and will take 10-12 working days.
I have made an order for it and awaiting it to be ready.

yes, have seen that other case. Nice that it can be customized. Not too sure about the quality, looking forward to your impressions.
Flipcase covering the screen might not be the worst thing to have for the i5.

There's a non flip case version actually http://www.ebay.com/itm/A6-EASECASE-Custom-Made-Genuine-Leather-Case-For-CAYIN-I5-/331928119827?hash=item4d48752a13
You can customise the leather type and color.

Andy—this may or may not have anything to do with the problem, but I thought I would mention that in the past, I've seen different DAPs run into problems with embedded album art.

There are two general ways to encode a JPG: Standard or Progressive. And in the cases where I've seen DAPs run into problems with album art, it was typically because the JPGs used progressive encoding. It's at least something to test.

About the volume control I see it now, Yes you are right, still depends on the speed of rotation. I give your word users are from Russia.
About DLNA , files cannot be downloaded directly to the player. Now playing on DLNA all great, but the menu option "download" is not working, nothing happens.

I appeal to the representatives of the Cayin.
Make please in the next firmware is the ability for the long tap on the folder to select "play folder". I highly recommend. For example I have a root "Music" folder, in it two folders "FLAC" and "MP3" (Yes, not all songs can be found in lossless format). Each of them have folders with albums and tracks. If I want at the moment that the player lost all the songs in the folder "FLAC" , now I have no choice. I have to go inside this folder and choose a specific album or files.

How about making a playlist? I've tried making playlist and it worked nicely.
