Bought 3 sets of QC25 pads and couldn't stretch them to fit my Sine, too small.......
If they ever make an over ear pair, I'll never need another headphone again.
What about the EL-8 Open Back compared to the Sine? How big a difference in SQ and resolution?
I've never heard the Elate. The reviews I've skimmed seem very polarized, which suggests that it's very good, as long as _______. Whatever the reviewers who love it did or had in common, and the reviewers that hate it didn't. It might be a fit issue depending on your head size, it might be the kind of music you listen to, or more likely, the volume you like to listen at. I dunno, I don't have a need for the El8 so I never looked in to it.
So you said *IF* the Sine was an over-ear? Don't let Audeze's failure of a marketing department fool you: the Sine *IS* an over-ear model. In everything but name and stock earpads, anyway. (FYI even if it was on-ear, it still wasn't the first. See: Realistic Pro30, others)
In truth, everything about the Sine design says "over-ear." Take the stock torture pads off and leave them in the retail box, where you'll never have to think about them again until/unless you want to sell them. You don't even need to mess around with the 3D printed adapters to fit circumaural earpads on there: still have your M4U pads? Those are comfortably over-ear for you, right? They fit the Sine rather perfectly; now, it's an over-ear headphone!
Still, the PSB pads aren't ideal. They were designed for something much lighter, with less clamping force. I used them this way for several months and was happy the whole time. You just need them until Amazon delivers the Brainwavz angled memory foam pads I mentioned. They're a step up in comfort and sound quality, and they also fit securely without the use of adapters or other hardware.
There's one other way I know of: this works with just about any pad, no matter how large. You know how the LCD pads are attached using a ring of double sided tape? Just do that! IIRC you can't get all 360° coverage, but it's close enough that it doesn't really make a difference.
So I hope that I've been able to help you some, and hopefully you'll never mistake the Sine for an on-ear model again!

I very sorry other members cannot get the Bose QC25 pads on.
It took me allot of work and patience.
So I can nolong recommend them.
Plus they also give ear suctioning like stock pads.
Anyways, so far, there is no way getting around the fact,
that you need the adapters for best sine pad solution.
Only the vesper audio pads are made to fit,
but they are at over double the overall price..and smaller. .
Did you guys see the picture of an open back Sine

What are you current thoughts on the best pads used with an adapter?
I've been to-ing and fro-ing on a couple of earpads and the ones that are staying (for the moment anyway) are these MSR7 clones.
To my ears at least, they're about as close to stock sound as I've been able to get - they've been able to capture the immediacy and the bass texture that I love about the Sines, and which were too significantly compromised by the Brainwavz ones (I have flat pleather and hybrid ones, as well as angled velour ones) for them to be viable, comfy as they were. The Brainwavzs opened up the soundstage (which was nice) but were ultimately too distant and unfocused.
Plus the MSR7s fit quite securely without the need for adapters and don't add as much bulk to the Sines, as you can see:
P.S.: Big thank you to @ASRSPR
for the adapter download - I didn't need it with the MSR7 after all, but it helps loads with keeping the bigger pads secure.
whew. i just went through trying a gazillion different pairs of headphones. i wasn't thrilled with my 2012 classic lcd-3 so i sold em. then tried everything i could swing (anything i could get used for $1100 or less). finally was frustrated, like the baby bear trying the different chairs - nothing fit perfectly. then i thought of trying the lcd3-f 2016 and it all came together. except that i missed one of the pairs i had tried and sold along the way.... the Audeze Sine! i had gotten em in weeks ago, ordered the AT pads and adapter, then sold em in my flurry of trying new cans. so i decided that my final missing link was the Sine, and i got lucky in that Max had just put his repadded pair up for sale.
Hey, i need a replacement cable for the sine since the original cable broke. My budget is about 50euro/usd. Does anyone know something? Non cypher
